We’re shutting down @mason_app.
Despite nearly two years of hard work, Mason failed to get traction with customers.
The decision to shut down is bittersweet. I feel deeply grateful to have gotten the chance to work with my brilliant co-founders, Anders and William, as well as the rest of our amazing team. We’ve written a summary of our journey and the lessons we’ve gathered here: https://t.co/bih24bs9zx.
Mason is in many ways the data tool I wished I had in my previous roles. Getting the chance to design it from scratch and will it into existence has been an incredibly rewarding experience. However, the unforgiving reality of startups is that desire alone does not translate into success.
To our investors, customers, and supportive families: your encouragement, feedback, and support kept us going. Thank you.
For the immediate future, I look forward to spending more time with my three-month-old baby and working on a few passion projects. As for the 'next big thing,' I’ll take some time to reflect before I decide what to do next.
@larsboehnke For now, yes. Mason is primarily built for teams using a shared connection.
But local connection is in the works. Happy give you a ping once it's out!
Today, we've hit a major milestone on our journey building the fastest way to write SQL and share data with your team.
We're excited to introduce Mason on desktop, first launching on macOS.

Exciting introduction from @Mason_App! 🚀

Googling “average time to load a dashboard” took me to an article claiming that between 6-20s is acceptable.
With this update, charts load in milliseconds in @mason_app ⚡😎.
Keep your projects up-to-date
In Mason, teams track their key metrics in Projects.
Set up your project to automatically refresh to ensure your team is always looking at fresh data, and get notified if a query fails.
This team ships 🚢!
Truly grateful to be a part of our amazing team at @mason_app .
As we begin our next cycle, let's have a look at some of the highlights from the last couple of months:
Every query your team creates becomes a part of the shared library in Mason.
Filters help streamline discovery, allowing you to quickly locate the query you need.
Introducing: Seamless AI

Introducing: Export to Google Sheets
Pick the right tool for the job. Simply hit Export to Google Sheets and a new tab will open with your query results.
Introducing: Project list view
Projects are the best way to share queries with your team. The new project list view allows you to switch between a list view for quick edits or dashboard view for deeper analysis.
Introducing: Copy Chart to Clipboard
The best chart is the one that gets seen. Quickly share your chart in the tools your team members are already using.
