🧵The Durr Lab (@njdurr) captured the Research Lab Excellence Award at the recent #HopkinsEngineer/@HopkinsMedicine retreat. So, what is this lab of biomedical engineers up to that's so award-worthy? Computational Biophotonics: shaping light for medical diagnostics. For example:
Congrats, Greg McKay on completing his Ph.D. @JHUBME! He created new techniques for non-invasive imaging of blood with phase microscopy, monitoring urine output with holography, characterizing the eye with computational imaging, and slide-free histology with MUSE.
Congrats Dr. Mason Chen @masontchen1!! Mason defended his Ph.D. in #HopkinsBME last week with flying colors. First graduate of our lab. So proud of his work in GANPOP, OxyGAN, si-SFDI, holography, and more. He's become a master in machine learning and structured light imaging.
Nicholas Durr (@njdurr), assistant professor at #HopkinsBME, is a recipient of the National Science Foundation’s Early CAREER Award, which recognizes early stage scholars with high levels of promise and excellence. Congratulations! 👏

You may have heard that the US Capitol Building was built with slave labor. That's true.
But what most people don't know is the extraordinary story behind the statue that sits on the top of the dome, called The Statue of Freedom.
This thread is going to be worth your time. 1/17
Happy to present a new SFDI technique for widefield quantitative tissue imaging. We show that optical properties can be mapped by analyzing the blur of randomized speckle patterns https://t.co/z1iNlo4RRK
Proud to have our work on non-invasive blood cell imaging featured in #OSA_BOEx. Green light and oblique back-illumination gives absorption and phase contrast in a simple setup. Can we count all the blood cells? @OSAPublishing@JHUBME@jhu_cbid
