The British East India Co also built its largest facilities worldwide in India. Stupid Indian elites/rajahs were made to feel proud even then. The difference in China’s aspiration is that its strategy in bringing US companies was to digest US tech & then supersede the US w its own products. India FAILED to do that in software or anything else, being content as mere labor. Indian elites became proud middlemen & filled their own pockets.
