A drug to treat hot flushes slows breast cancer when used with anti-oestrogen treatment, says a team @CRUKCamCentre.
3 in 4 breast cancers are ER-positive and these women are usually offered anti-oestrogens, which can bring on menopause-like symptoms.
This new Cambridge-led trial showed that a drug mimicking progesterone can help manage these symptoms and has anti-cancer properties.

Following the heartbreaking death of our founder Jo Taylor, in early November, METUPUK has faced one of its most difficult decisions, appointing a new Chair to lead us forward. This appointment has been made in consultation with Jo’s family, ensuring her legacy remains at the heart of everything we do.
We’re proud to share that Laura Ashurst, a dedicated volunteer since 2021 and Trustee since March 2025, has accepted the role of Chair. This moment carries deep emotion, but also hope for the future of our mission.
As we step into 2026, Jo’s voice and vision will continue to inspire us. Please join us in welcoming Laura to the helm.
We are METUPUK. We stand together.

Why do people with secondary breast cancer face different experiences of care?
Dr Charlene McShane and Dr Damien Bennett at @QUBelfast are studying inequalities across Northern Ireland to understand where more support is needed, and how we get there.

@Pete_British@MhairiHunter Mhairi is right. I work in pharmacy and paracetamol is only ever prescribed in 100’s which isn’t available OTC, so price comparison is not the same at all.
Some GP’s will not prescribe for cost reasons, but that includes if it’s cheaper for patient to buy than pay script charge
Can anyone help us reach someone at @Facebook to get this overturned. After a review, they have doubled down and referred to it as ‘sexual content’ when all images are of post mastectomy surgery, to help raise awareness and share information.
Would @lorraine have contacts?
Facebook is restricting us again during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
So, unless you already know about the mastectomy support group, you’ll never know about it, as they don’t Recommend it anymore, because…it shows mastectomies…🤷🏼♀️
Help!? @facebook how do I get a review? 😭
@DrNighatArif I think anyone who has undergone regular medical tests and/or treatment are used to male physicians treating them intimately but there is something to be said about those having a mammogram for the first time who have never undergone other tests etc possibly not being comfortable
@DrNighatArif@Denisew81598090 Also wondering as I had preventative surgery due to eostrogen receptive family breast cancers.
Admittedly I’m not suffering too badly at the moment with perimenopause (which weirdly started after my mastectomy) but I worry about long term health issues re: bone density etc

For women with a BRCA mutation, options like prophylactic mastectomy or oophorectomy can lower cancer risk, but these decisions are deeply personal. You’re not alone in this. ❤️ #BRCA#CancerPrevention#SurgeryChoices#BreastCancerAwareness
