The roundworm has a brain, 302 neurons, tiny but real. A Dileptus has none. It's a single cell. No brain, no nerves, nothing. Yet both turn, back up, poke around, change their minds. If a single cell can explore with no brain, where does intelligence actually live?
Here it is - the official, revised, peer-reviewed version of my Platonic Space paper. https://t.co/PXNpx5FgFN Of all the many unpopular positions I’ve taken over the decades - bitter controversies around the origin of left-right asymmetry in embryogenesis, bioelectricity and genetics, diverse intelligence, etc., this one has by far generated the most pushback: serious (grateful for those!) and energetic attempts to move me to other views, pleas to just drop it and not talk about it (for several different reasons), nasty emails and accusations, impacts on reviews of papers that have nothing to do with this, etc. Kind of amazing to me how incendiary this is. What can I say... Our job is to call it as we see it, and right now for me, this is it. Apologies to collaborators and colleagues for any shrapnel! Time will tell if this pans out or not; I've placed my bets. And btw, if you think this stuff is weird and uncomfortable, just wait… There’s much more on the way. The knob turns slowly but as long as the data keep coming, I'm going to say what I think it all means and follow it to the next steps it enables. Buckle up!
So the chart is the wrong witness. If this is right, it shows up first in the old money's plumbing: who still lends to governments cheaply, what central banks hold, who owns the debt. That is a falsifiable prediction, not a vibe. More in Why Bitcoin Wins.
Water at one degree looks exactly like water. Nothing in it announces what happens at zero. Money does the same thing — which is why watching Bitcoin's price chart for the moment it flips means holding the wrong instrument.
Same move, two timescales. One mind switching is a memory being rewritten: the old belief softens, the contradiction bites, it sets anew. A crowd does it all at once. Which is why the prediction is abrupt, not gradual.
Bitcoin answers this by having no fixed point at all: a coin schedule anyone can read, and the only seat near the source is one anyone may compete for. No group has ever coordinated without a shared reference. Not even the avocado aisle.
Bitcoin's real job is not payments. It is synchronisation. Everyone you trade with runs a private model of the world: what is scarce, what is worth what, what is coming. Nobody can see inside anyone else's. Something has to line them up, or nothing works.
Between 2009 and 2022 asset prices ran far ahead of consumer prices. Economists argue hard about how much of that was the money creation itself. The gap is not in dispute. What produced it is.
The job is always the same: shrink the gap between what you expect and what you get. Cells use membranes, brains use forecasts, societies use money. Judge money by that job, and the argument stops being about ideology. More in Why Bitcoin Wins.
Right now your cells, your sleeping brain, and every market on earth are doing the same job. One job, nonstop. Physics has a name for it — and once you know the name, money stops looking like economics and Bitcoin stops looking like a bet.
So what happens when the yardstick itself moves? Every plan built on it carries an error nobody can price. Bitcoin's answer is narrow but hard: you cannot know its price next year, but you can know its quantity in 2140. Fiat offers the opposite deal.
