@Andyc1178@paulsatvik I’m not looking to make this a Slot debate, just saying I believe the manager has an influence on transfers, and a manager who’s won stuff has more of an influence
@Andyc1178@paulsatvik You might not like Slot, but he’ll have had a better reputation than Iraola, especially outside of England, given what he’d achieved before last season
@RapDatUK@LFCApproved They’ll have been aware of him as they are 100s of players, but the first time we’re linked is after appointing Iraola ain’t a coincidence, it was Wharton for months
@dougiedoings@paulsatvik@Andyc1178 Because everything I read is pessimistic aside from he plays great footie…for example, in the last 20yrs 9 managers have moved from lower prem team (having managed 60+ games) to a top6 side, only 3 lasted more than 8 months. Not a single one won anything. From the Times today
@paulsatvik@Andyc1178 Haha you’re the one bringing Slot up mate, not me. My point was that I believe Iraola won’t massively help recruitment and we will likely miss out on more targets
@paulsatvik@Andyc1178 A double league winning manager…🤔 even if he hadn’t, the prospect of playing for a title winning manager would appeal more than a….remind me what Iraola has won? Cypriot charity shield….
These things matter when competing for top tier signings
@Andyc1178 Assuming they’ve discussed it in the past year…
The coach will have an influence on recruitment and I don’t think Iraola brings much to the table if we’re being honest.
Feels like Hughes is doing the bare minimum before buggering off to Saudi to make his mega bucks atm
@RapDatUK@LFCApproved When he was very young, I’m sure he’s a good player, but we weren’t seriously looking at him until we (any day now) appoint Iraola
@RB_LFC@Jack_LFC_1892 I think Villa will be better than us, Spurs and Chelsea will be aiming for top 5 given they don’t have European football, also have Newcastle to consider. If we get off to a slow start we could be chasing top 4 all season and fall short, that’s my pessimistic take. Optimistic 3rd
