Escuchemos a Mario, presidente de la asociación de víctimas. Su dolor merece respeto, empatía y respuestas. Nunca frivolidad.

Perdonad que me salga un poco de la temática Batmaniana y comiquera para comentaros una cosa importante:

Ayer fue la presentación del libro de mi amigo Dionisio en La Pinta del Parador de Baiona: "Camiño a ningures", poemas escritos a lo largo de más de cuarenta años. Una velada preciosa.

Pero lo importante es para qué sirve: el libro cuesta 20€ (+ gastos de envío) y todo lo que se recaude irá a la lucha contra el cáncer y a AFAGA Alzheimer, dos causas que desgraciadamente están muy presentes y que merecen toda la ayuda posible.

The discourse surrounding #Clayface today is absolutely insane. I think one of the reasons Gunn fans are so fucking hostile towards everyone these days is because they spent YEARS making such a huge stink about the SnyderVerse while simultaneously glazing Gunn and the DCU as the second coming of Christ.

Now they've backed themselves into a corner where they have to defend the very thing they spent years insisting was going to be so much better. They've invested so much time and energy into being on the "winning" side that they can't possibly admit when something is mediocre or underwhelming.

It's why we're now seeing an influx of tweets celebrating how CHEAP the last two projects were, as though spending less money somehow makes something good. We've gone from arguing about the actual quality of these movies and shows to celebrating their fucking budgets.

At this point they're just defending their own egos because they've spent years backing a horse they absolutely refuse to admit might not be the winner they thought it was.

And I'm starting to think a lot of these people don't even particularly care about the movies or shows themselves anymore. They care about the Rotten Tomatoes scores, the rankings, the headlines and whatever other metric they can point to as proof that they're on the "winning" team. The actual quality of the projects seems almost secondary to having their years of online tribalism validated.

Which is pretty fucking ironic when you consider how much time they've spent accusing Snyder fans of being a cult.

It appears Marvel hasn’t made this official but I stand by what I wrote below because it applies to other characters that they did retcon their sexuality.

If Marvel genuinely cared about its bisexual readership, why not create a compelling new character instead of rewriting someone else’s work?

How many readers are they actually reaching with these changes? If representation is that important, then put in the work. Create a new bisexual character, give him a great story, make him three-dimensional, and earn the investment of all readers—not just those who see themselves represented in him.

That’s the hard part: creating a character people actually care about. It takes imagination, good writing, and the ability to build an audience from the ground up. And Marvel knows there’s no guarantee that character will sell.

So why take the risk?

It’s much easier to slap a new label on an established character, borrow decades of someone else’s storytelling, and congratulate yourself for being progressive.

The way in which that was, I thought, used as an excuse [to replace Zack with Joss Whedon] was one of the sh*ttiest things I've ever seen. It was so gross.
