Former President & MP @HESharifShAhmed who led #Somalia through one of its most difficult years cannot move freely in #Mogadishu is deeply concerning. This is bigger than one individual, but it’s a test of respect, liberty, justice & constitutional rights of every Somali citizen.
I appreciate President @WilliamsRuto’s apology to the Somalis in Kenya’s North Eastern region for decades of discrimination and marginalization.
This historic gesture is a meaningful step toward reconciliation, inclusion, justice & development for all Kenyans. Asante, Mheshimiwa.
On this #AfricaDay, let’s empower #Africa’s youth through education, innovation and leadership, not division, migration & extremism. Our continent’s strength lies in a generation that will build peace, unity & sustainable development. #AfricaDay#YouthEmpowerment#FutureOfAfrica

Massive congratulations to the Gunners @Arsenal for clinching @premierleague title after a seriously hard-fought season!
Fans stuck with the team, the squad kept pushing all year, & after 22 long years, the trophy is finally back where it belongs.
Fully deserved champions 🏆
Somalia’s recurring crises are rooted in fraudulent or poorly managed elections. Similar circumstance contributed to the assassination of Somalia’s 2nd President, triggering a military coup and ushering in 21 yrs of authoritarian rule. The lessons of history must not be ignored.
Congratulations on the commemoration of Somali National Youth Day, observed on 15 May, marking the founding of the #SYL.
Somali youth have always been the backbone of our struggle for freedom & continue to play a vital role in the rebuilding, development & advancement of Somalia.

Statement by the African Union Commission on Israel’s Reported Decision Regarding “Somaliland”.
The African Union Commission expresses deep concern and strongly condemns reports of Israel’s decision to appoint a diplomatic envoy to the so-called “Somaliland.”
The Commission reaffirms the African Union’s unwavering respect for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Somalia, in accordance with the Constitutive Act of the African Union and international law. The Union does not recognize Somaliland as an independent state.
Recalling the communiqué of the 1324th meeting of the African Union Peace and Security Council of 6 January 2026, the Commission underscores that any unilateral recognition of Somaliland is null and void and warns that such actions risk undermining regional stability.
The African Union remains committed to supporting Somalia’s peace, governance, and national cohesion.

Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt & 14 other nations strongly condemn Israel’s move to appoint a representative to the so-called “Somaliland,” calling it a clear violation of Somalia’s sovereignty & unity, and reaffirm full support for its territorial integrity #Somalia
A number of Islamic countries have condemned Israel’s move to appoint a diplomatic envoy to Somaliland region, deeming it a grave breach of Somalia’s sovereignty & unity. The nations reiterate their support for #Somalia’s territorial integrity and its legitimate institutions.
President Adan Abdulle Osman, popularly known as ‘‘Aadan Adde’’ Somalia’s first president (1960–1967), is remembered not for personal brilliance alone, but for prioritizing national unity and the public interest over personal or political gain, and for his strong commitment to the constitution.
His legacy is worthy of emulation and stands as a reminder of constitutional integrity and leadership in service of our great nation. I regret the political course that followed after his era, marked by major setbacks that befell our nation, and I often reflect on him whenever the constitution is bypassed or personal interests override national interests.
May Allah have mercy on him. 🤲
May Allah have mercy upon Shankaroon Ahmed Yusuf Sagal, who passed away in the United States. Her death is a profound loss to the Somali artistic community and to the Somali people as a whole.
