The gradual realisation Apple has been consistently falling short of the standards they accustomed us to over the past 20 yrs. Things feel clunkier, jankier and less polished. Silly bugs, micro annoyances that persist between major OS versions. Where's the Apple delight of old?
@iamjose105@I_Am_The_ICT@YouTube ICT mentions it on his breakdown video of today: one wick will be respected, you have to determine which one it is. In his words, you have to apply some elbow grease and determine which wick (premium and discount) is being respected by the algo.
I think London crime is a prime example of that Jeff Bezos quote:
‘The thing I have noticed is when the anecdotes and the data disagree, the anecdotes are usually right. There's something wrong with the way you are measuring it.’
In response to these concerns, people love to point at a chart and claim ‘crime is down’, then look at you as if you’re an idiot. I remember the same thing happening in SF a few years back.
But anecdotally - I’ve experienced more robbery attempts (1 successful) in the past 2 years than the previous 10, and hear about 10x the amount of stories of this happening.
So which is it - is the data misrepresenting the reality, or are a bunch of us experiencing some kind of mass psychosis? I think likely the former.
@HasbroPulse@JoeManganiello@AvalonHill Have you noticed purchasing on your website is broken? I can't pre-order the new HeroQuest, there's errors. Tried different browsers and both logged in and as guest. I put in all the details, payment, click on place order and after a while it takes me to the following screen.
@I_Am_The_ICT I was wondering on your YT NQ May 01 review: if a buyside/sellside liquidity level is not mitigated when it's swept (because the market doesn't know how many orders there are - makes perfect sense!), then when should it be considered mitigated/no longer valid? TY!
In coming out of the one-time hefty software license fee at purchase time, we moved into the rolling subscription model. But we’ve lost the plot on this a long time ago, most software now charges an unreasonable amount of money. Subscriptions roll into the hundreds of £ for me.
Paid subscriptions are the worst business model ever. Fuck it. I've just canceled all my subs and I'll save a lot of money. The trick is that my experience won't change a lot. X sucks no matter if you have a blue check mark or not. Other services are the same. I'll cancel Adobe as well, it's a fucking bloated software that works like complete garbege.
These are sad days for computer users that are forced to use bad, overpriced products because of business incompetence.
I’m a much less frequent user of Uber in Portugal, so to me the “enshitification” downturn has felt much sharper. What is the decent Uber alternative in Portugal everyone? (Please don’t say taxis, I loathe the Portuguese taxi experience)
Also Uber became so bad outside US
I had to permadelete it after years
Uber drivers in Europe are like the bottom of the barrel, most good drivers already left the app
And Uber is squeezing the remaining drivers so hard they can barely survive resulting in very stressed out (and often drugged out) drivers
Not safe
For deliveries in Portugal/Spain I prefer Glovo now
Kinda big deal for me cause I was one of their top users for about a decade, spent thousands on Uber per month, but it completely went to shit once they started turning a profit
In my opinion they should have just raised prices and paid their drivers well but they decided to do the opposite and squeeze drivers to the max possible
Not good for the drivers, not good for customers and long term not good for Uber
Since iOS18 it takes forever for photos taken on iPhone to sync to iCloud - sometimes just takes a long time, sometimes the sync is paused for battery efficiency and I need to manually trigger it. Any way to fix this? I now find myself mirroring iPhone to get photos on my Mac.
Did you change your integration with TrueLayer
@RevolutApp? I keep having to reauthorise YNAB so that I can import transactions into my personal finance app! This is beyond annoying, was this a bug or some product/business decision? Please rollback, you just regressed 10 years.
