@Dace_xx It’s really not different standards! LCL have a much more targeted strategy (so far) of spending big on superstar names towards the end of their career than Chelsea and Arsenal, and I’m questioning if that’s sustainable.

If Arsenal signed Earps etc., I’d ask the same.

Mary Earps’ performance today is a warning to London City on where their recruitment and spending could go wrong.

Focusing on the name over finding a young, exciting prospect to develop,

Alexia’s talent is obviously worth that strategy, but others?…..

I think some of their signings have been too obvious for the superstar factor, not tactically or with the long term in mind.

@BethFisherSport I hear you, and it wasn’t to write off any player or LCL fully. But I do think it’s fair to say it’s a warning of how their current strategy can be a risk!

I don’t think Mary or Alana for e.g. have been great for a while. It’s not just age, but form. A lot of money spent…

Because I mean it in the sense that buying a lot of superstar players towards the end of their careers in one go, isn’t a sustainable model

@CFC_Lorna Yeah, it’s just not sustainable either! Signing multiple players in their 30s can only last so many seasons.

Still think they’ll do well this season with just the pure talent to beat the lower teams. But interesting to see how far it can go
