My summary of Avatar 2: soulless animation, one-dimensional characters, childish writing, and a frankly bizarre and fetishistic obsession with giving blue aliens traits of actual Native groups. https://t.co/lBpOxByQMD
When I converted to Catholicism in 2009-10, I read Benedict XVI's book Jesus of Nazareth, probably the 1st full-length book I read by a Catholic. That book in particular and his papacy in general meant a lot to me then and still does today. He'll always be my favorite pope. RIP
@voiceofD The next day, yes, but they didn't retroactively apply the policy to the NYPost and their tweets until two weeks later. That's a long time in the news cycle. They also flagged it with a warning for even longer, if I remember correctly. https://t.co/bT6gLIaetB
I started upgrading a personal project to PHP 8 last night, and it seems like I'm having to slap on an isset check every other line. https://t.co/gnadzqUpfU
@voiceofD@DavidAFrench Oh, I didn't realize HB 1557 and Stop Woke were two separate bills, and I thought Disney actually violated one rather than simply comment. Fair enough, but in my defense, I never thought the free speech angle to defend, eg, Chick-fil-a was ideal, just easiest legal option.
@voiceofD@DavidAFrench But it seems to me no one argues that racial discrimination counts as free speech, and the right is claiming that corporations' woke requirements/job trainings are themselves racial discrimination an therefore not free speech (which I tend to agree with).
I really hate this dark pattern of using primary button styles to confuse users into doing what you want them to do. In this example, Yes and No get flipped in a confirmation dialog.
@Add_A_Straw Yeah, I agree that Putin has gone too far and it's not NATO's fault, but I'm getting post-9/11 pro-war vibes all over again. I hope I'm wrong.
@Add_A_Straw I'm not sure what all he said, but I'm definitely uneasy about American politicians inching closer to war with Russia over Ukraine. I still remember when my Republican friends said I was unpatriotic for not supporting the Iraq/Afghanistan war, but this will end even worse.
