A good math curriculum doesn't have hundreds of parents and students complaining about it. A good math curriculum is backed up by research .. not reviews written in a small conference room with the supervisors and authors/paid influencers in room with them.
.@WCPSS wonβt drop controversial math curriculum but will make some changes. Critics of MVP Math say they're not satisfied with the response & are considering appealing the staff's decision to the school board. #nced#wakepol https://t.co/aIQLg17TqN
@AllisonCecilia4 @henryfseanf @JoinerSandy@MVP Alls good.. Symptoms have improved due to time, medicine.. and just as important ..her math teacher stopped teaching the MVP way! Sadly, while she's gonna pass with a solid C (got 62rd 3Q and 82 4Q.. several in class are gonna fail
@AInfanteGreen@EdReports ππ€£π it's about equity . But all teachers are white. Focus on getting POCs to become teachers and provide them with research based curriculum and give them the autonomy to teach.
@nckhui@WCPSS Grade recovery sometimes looks like "color a picture on a graph paper (with coordinates) and it will count as a test grade" this helps the teacher get all students class grades up
@KimberlyCWood @drewcook50 Mr. Cook.. can you please give evidence that @MVPmath is of high quality? I'm tired of being discounted with meaningless sound bites.
I am also concerned how wcpss decided to partner with MVP... None -who I can tell- have depth in experience. Not one has written a program near this magnitude prior to 2012. We need answers.
@AllisonCecilia4@WCPSS @drewcook50 @emcfarland11 @JMartin4Schools I'm looking at the bios of the team at MVP and the demographics of the counties they taught in....so far zero evidence they are equipped to write evidence based, culturally appropriate curriculum for one of largest districts in the US.
Gotta research if technology use in the classroom has really improved students learning. Taking notes from a pho e doesn't seem that engaging. And maybe we wouldn't have all these quacks selling new curriculum with no research backing their claims
