Scotland has enormous energy resources that should help lower our bills - but the powers to make these decisions remain at Westminster.
Decisions about Scotland’s energy should be made in Scotland, and last week Parliament endorsed that view.
More in my Record column today 👇
Great energy and a positive reception on the campaign trail today.
On June 18th, elect SNP MPs who will always stand up for Scotland - @thomsonrichardg in Aberdeen South, and @larabirdsnp in Arbroath and Broughty Ferry. 🏴
We are working hard to deliver on your priorities. In case you missed it, this week:
🏥 NHS long waits fell for 11th month in a row
🩺 Surpassed the target of 150,000 extra appointments
🏡 First Homes Fund to open by the end of June
🏴 Passed the vote on devolving energy powers
Scotland’s future isn’t up to him. We cannot have our constitutional decisions made by politicians unaccountable to the people of Scotland.
Our MPs & MSPs are elected by us. English MPs are not. They shouldn’t get a say.
A majority in the Scottish Parliament has just backed our call to devolve energy powers to Scotland.
We can’t afford being tied to the failed policies at Westminster.
Scotland’s energy should work for Scotland - with the powers we need to help bring people’s bills down.
@Kat_Says_Stuff Seems reasonable. They have some sort of risk criteria as well for politicos. I didn’t use to have to, but when I started working for parliament AND being a senior cllr it clearly tripped a flag. Matters not to me just means I have to remember the right number to call.
❗️ Only @theSNP will stand up for Scotland in Westminster!
🫵 If 𝘆𝗼𝘂 live in the Arbroath and Broughty Ferry or Aberdeen South constituencies, remember to vote for @larabirdsnp or @thomsonrichardg in next month’s by-elections.
🗳️ For a better, brighter future #VoteSNP.
🏴 Yesterday, Scotland’s Parliament backed a second independence referendum.
👀 Not one unionist MSP made a positive case for staying in the UK.
🤔 If they’re so confident, why fear letting Scotland choose its future? Or are they worried this time the answer will be yes?
People across Scotland will be deeply worried by another rise in energy bills announced today.
We produce enormous amounts of energy, yet despite Labour’s promises to cut them, bills keep soaring.
It’s time Scotland had control of Scotland’s energy.
@JohnFerry18 So your answer to the question is for people to demonstrate on the streets and engage in mass acts of civil unrest and disobedience? That’s the best the unionists have?
This union you’ve got here…I think it’s done.
We’re leaving, but we can do so in a peaceful democratic way.
The people of Scotland have the right to self-determination. This means that the ONLY elected representatives with a democratic right to say no to a new vote are either our MSPs or our MPs. Not MPs elected in England that are unaccountable to the people of Scotland.
BREAKING: The UK Government has responded after the Scottish Parliament called for Westminster to devolve powers to hold a second independence referendum
A Downing Street spokesperson said the Labour Government 'does not support independence or another referendum'
The Scottish Parliament has spoken. A significant majority of MSPs has voted to affirm the right of people in Scotland to decide their constitutional future.
This is democracy and it must be respected. Scotland’s future must be in Scotland’s hands. 🏴
This is a cross party demand. The Pro-Indy majority in our national Parliament want an independence referendum.
The UK Labour Party who are in government who are denying Scottish democracy is not sustainable.
Respect our Parliament. It’s time Westminster respect’s democracy.
Our parliament has a mandate to hold a new referendum. The only democratic role for Westminster is to facilitate the RIGHT of the Scottish people to determine for ourselves our constitutional future.
Else we no longer live in a democracy.
