SOMEONE BUILT WORDLE BUT FOR MINI GOLF AND IT IS QUIETLY BECOMING MY FAVORITE MORNING RITUAL
it's called https://t.co/uNM5Of4MOd.
you open the tab and there is one mini golf hole. that's the whole game. one new hole every midnight pacific. same hole for everyone in the world. your first finish counts.
you click the ball, drag back like a slingshot, let go. the further you pull, the harder you hit.
today's hole is called "Up and around." it's an S-shaped tropical island floating in dark teal water, with cross-barriers and one little wooden ramp that i ricocheted off three times in a row. par 6.
at the top of the screen, a live ticker scrolls past in real time:
> someone holed 6/6 · par
> someone holed 5/6 · birdie
> someone holed 11/6 · +5
real strangers are putting on the same hole as you. you can see the ghost rings of where their balls travelled, in cyan and purple and pink.
when you finish, you get a wordle-style share card. emoji result. takes one tap to drop into a group chat.
PC Gamer just wrote a whole love letter to it. the writer admits they scored a 20 on a par 12. they were thrilled.
the developer goes by https://t.co/0LJJsQnIeY. the 3D models are from Kenney, a guy who has been releasing free CC0 game assets for over a decade.

the about page says it in one sentence: "Same hole for everyone, new one at midnight Pacific, and your first finish is your score. That's the whole game."
we are 35 days into the project and the calendar archive lets you play every single previous hole.
i don't know why this is so satisfying. i just know i was supposed to be writing this post and i kept reopening the tab.
the internet is healing.
The US Department of Energy just mapped every data center in America.
This is what the AI power grid looks like.
The dots are data centers.
Yellow = operating.
Orange = under construction.
White = planned.
The lines are high-voltage transmission 735kV, 500kV, 345kV the arteries that move electrons from generators to compute loads.
Look at the density along the East Coast, Northern Virginia to the Carolinas.
Then look at Texas.
Then Northern California.
The largest circles on this map represent facilities demanding over 5,000 MW of power.
Single campuses pulling more electricity than mid-sized cities.
Northern Virginia is so dense the dots overlap.
Data centers cluster on transmission corridors.
Not because land is cheap because power is available.
When the line is full, the next data center goes somewhere else.
The grid is the bottleneck.
Every orange dot is a power purchase agreement being negotiated right now.
Every white dot is a utility commission filing, a gas plant approval, a pipeline capacity booking.
The $66.8 bn NextEra-Dominion deal, Meta's 10 new gas plants in Louisiana, the Alaska LNG FID push they all trace back to maps that look like this.
AI infrastructure is built in substations, on transmission corridors, and at the end of gas pipelines.

In the middle of WW2 the United States hid two aircraft carriers in Lake Michigan.
They trained 17,000 carrier pilots in the cold freshwater.
Hundreds of planes crashed during training.
The cold water preserved them. Most are still down there.
This is the story of Lake Michigan in WW2...🧵1/4
Wanna see the most interesting hotel in the world? It’s the Hotel Polaris located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It features two F-16 simulators and one 737 MAX sim.
Still find it awesome that the vinyl release of John Williams’ score for The Force Awakens had etchings in the record that, when light shined down on it, projected a ‘hologram’ of a TIE Fighter and the Millennium Falcon.
Such a fun detail, wish more Star Wars records did this!
None other than Karen Newman is brought back for tonight's national anthem.
Another beautiful touch by the Red Wings organization to celebrate Fedorov's jersey retirement. #LGRW
@taylorswift13 release date was on Friday. After doing a pre pre order (new concept) it still hasn’t arrived as of Sunday.
Irony is how one of the songs mentions Gallatin Rd and I live a block away. Seems like the delivery would be on time.
@GigaBasedDad This is the Ace Hardware in Midland, MI. They serve donuts from a place called Cops and Donuts. The main donut shop is in Clare, MI and they have “precincts” around the area as smaller donut shops like this. Great place and have been there many times.
@midwestern_ope My elderly neighbor backed out of her driveway and hit my truck. It was her first ever ticket and I sent her flowers because I felt sorry for her. Ope.
Funny Story: Billy Amick lost his PitchCom in the 5th inning of Game 1 after Kirby picked off an A&M player at 3rd. You can see the PitchCom stuck to his arm after the play.
Tennessee asked for it back and A&M told the umps they didn’t have it.
That is why Tennessee went to regular signs for most of the series. Karma
