Easter Sunday @hospitalofstx -the chapel in darkness; the new fire kindled outside, the Easter Candle lit & from which our candles took light; joyful fanfare, bells rang & cymbals clashed. Suddenly the Chapel filled with light; the Cantor & Choir sang- wondrous Service
In 1931 the future Archbishop William Temple told worshippers to read the words of the last verse of this hymn, silently and then ‘if you mean the words even a little, and want to mean them more, sing them very softly’ . The whole congregation of 2,000 whispered that last verse.
Romeo our usual donkey was ‘promoted’ to the Cathedral @WinCathedral this year! His friend donkey Sid stepped in to accompany our Palm Sunday service!
Bishop David (Hamid) too!
Handed this more unusual Palm this year- I like it.
Sounds a very special place to work (calming & therapeutic) with the peace of the birdsong and to have been able to hear the Cathedral bells & chimes; also the Quiristers & boys from Pilgrims School at practice in their Music Room in the Inner Close.
