I love the Olympics. Give me ALL the content. Gear haul fashion shows? Yes please. Olympic Village tours? Hell to the yes. Handball matches at 3am? I’m so there. Crying happy athletes? My drug of choice. Who needs sleep when the Olympics are on??
This is my regular reminder to #WomenInMedicine that a lot of people will have many opinions about when & what you should & shouldn't try, do, go for or say.
You can reflect on said perspectives, but don't let them define you.
In the end: YOU DO YOU.
THAT is all that matters.
@AmericanAir - cancelling a flight with less than 12 hours notice is not cool. Don’t think my new arrival time of 732 will allow me to catch my flight that leaves at 733. Disappointing at best.

Her: "Why haven't you left for L.A. yet?"
Me: "Huh? Oh. Yeah. I'm pretty much almost done. It's okay."
*silence*
Her: "But, like is it?"
Me: *sighs* "Me rushing there won't change anything."
Her: "Depends on who you ask."
And after that, we both went back to charting.
You know why we intubated people for Covid in March 2020?
Because otherwise they were going to die. Full. Stop.
I remember a patient rolling in with an oxygen saturation of 42%, breathing twice as fast as normal,struggling on a face mask with oxygen all the way up.
What to do?
I was a children's doctor.
He was 7, maybe 8.
Full of smiles.
I'd looked after him for months.
Grown to care.
I told him I was going on maternity leave, that I'd see him next year.
A couple of months later
I was in a car park with my new baby
and I got a call...
