I’ve been saying it for a while - we tax money made with money at a lower rate than we tax money made with a pair of hands. There’s no good reason why, it enriches the already rich, adds to the growing wealth gap, and makes the government less able to spend on public services like health, education, and transport - things upon which all wealth earning is based.

The claim that the government cannot spend anything unless it can say how it is ‘funded’ is absurd, as is the claim that anything the government can do can be ‘unfunded’. Government borrowing is funding, and government debt is essential to the smooth operation of the economy.

My older brother bought ‘The feeding of the 5000’ by Crass 45 years ago this month - and I’ve been fascinated by the band ever since. Tonight @corpsheffield I heard their songs performed live for the first time - absolutely fantastic!
