There has been great local reporting on these issues in @knoxnews, but I am happy to also see this excellent, in-depth national coverage from @JeffreyCarlisle.
Knoxville, where SEC athletics reign supreme, felt far off the soccer map when I moved here. (Nearby Nashville SC and Atlanta FC aren't covered at all.) This important story shows soccer doesnt need a bigtime club or athletics program to impact a community.
During the 2020-21 school year, gun violence took the lives of five students at @AustinEastHS in Knoxville, Tennessee. This is a story about trauma, grief and an unlikely team that rallied their community and gave them hope: https://t.co/XAu62RWRkn @AE_Athletics

2. The #cf97UK community has set a modest target of £500 to raise for local charities (we are in discussions on the right way forward and will announce further info in due course).
1. The #cf97UK group has donated $1,000 to the Fire for Food drive for this season. That puts the overall drive at 80% of its annual target (H/T to @TrueMartyParty for letting us announce that). And a Heartfelt and personal thank you to Marty for inspiring us on this effort.
@ThirstyPoet Have only been to the Porkies in summer, but this looks amazing and challenging. Doesn't matter how tall the mountains are, they make for tough walks!
Great to read @LiveLifeDrake on Walker Zimmerman's rise with USMNT in @knoxnews today. I wish we got his soccer coverage here more often. https://t.co/bqy1IgbqFX
Thanks to everybody who donated this great cause. $1520 by 25 donors. ❤️🙏🏼
Jersey winners are: Matt Brauer & Scott Litzelman. We will reach out!

@ArchiJake@cta Man, those were some of our favorite spots in RP but these are ridiculous objections, both in terms of content and of geography-- like, there will be no effect at all. Except more people in the n'hood to patronize local biz...
@MissMariapants I teach online on Zoom and my mic always sounds somewhat muffled. My sense is that Zoom throttles audio and video quality and does a lot of background fiddling with levels.
@ArchiJake As someone who used lived two blocks away and walked past this lot on a daily basis, there should be no issue here. Fits right in on the street and meets good goals. Neighborhood doesn't need small, exclusive developments.
@Tweed_Thornton "Urbs in horto" is correct. Latin nouns take different endings depending on their grammatical function. "Urbem" is the accusative form (roughly equivalent to English direct object, as well as the object of some prepositions). Not sure why GT translate spat that out by default.
@Top8Games I'm not an expert, but have some friends and colleagues who might know more about this stuff. Happy to try to set up some connections if you're interested.
@KitchentableCMD @Top8Games Maybe she was an archivist for the company, or participated in some kind of Aramco-sponsored charitable/public outreach program.
@KitchentableCMD @Top8Games It's a trap for Google translate because it is actually a transliteration to Arabic script of Aramco, the Arabian American Oil Company founded by American oil interests in the 1930s-40s and taken over by Saudia Arabia in the 70s.
