The whole BPA argument despite the fit being bad, only makes sense when the gap between said players is substantial. Taking a guy that’s 5 % better, but doesn’t fit on your team, is actually dumb roster building.

Ty Lue prefers a center who can space the floor or at least develop into one. Zu never really gave that, but he was homegrown, steady, and cheap. Duren might have more upside, but he also carries real risk of becoming a bad contract quickly. I don’t see the Clippers wanting to pay that price.
