In today’s reel, Dr. Jessica Whited sits down with @jessicaabo of @Entrepreneur to discuss @maticebio proprietary technology and how it's setting us apart. Watch here for her answer and insights.
Q: What determines the severity / appearance of a scar?
A: First and foremost are the cause, size, and location of the wound. How the wound is treated (requiring stitches, etc) and the general health and age of the patient also impact a scar’s outcome.
What is a fibroblast? // A fibroblast is a type of cell that contributes to the formation of connective tissue and provides structural framework in the body. Fibroblasts secrete collagen proteins and play an important role in wound-healing.
“Matice Biosciences is mining all of these really exciting molecules out of super regenerator genomes. We’re finding clues about which of these molecules might be pro-regenerative and anti-scarring… then customizing them for human skin.” - Dr. Jessica Whited, Matice Biosciences
Q: Can scars ever fully disappear or will they always leave a permanent mark on the skin?
A: Scars will always leave a mark on the skin. While scars can fade over time (especially during the initial healing process), they will never fully disappear.

What is fibrosis? // Fibrosis is the change + thickening of connective tissue following injury, more commonly referred to as “scarring.” Fibrosis can affect most tissues in the body, and can even impact organ function + health.
In today’s #MeetMatice reel, we sit down with our chairman + co-founder, Jonathan Wolfson and scientific advisor, Dr. Adam Schaffner to talk amino acid optimization, patentable peptides + game-changing scar intervention.

Q: Why are super regenerators at the heart of our research?
A: Super regenerators (like axolotl salamanders) are animals that heal scarlessly. This natural cellular reprogramming is an evolutionary feat & one that holds endless potential for vegan, scar-free, human skin repair.
