The very unusual galaxy NGC 2685, also known as the Helix Galaxy, is located about 40 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. This #imageoftheweek was captured by the @Geminiobs North telescope, operated by @NSF@NOIRLabastro. https://t.co/gV9HhxFhfC
I finally properly edited my photos from the total solar eclipse! I know you’re all tired of seeing eclipse pics on the timeline, but I’m really proud of these. I’m making a little storefront to sell prints, and I hope to have it live sometime tomorrow :)

The moment of totality during an eclipse is such a magical moment.
Seeing that last diamond of sunlight vanish against the lunar limb, leaving the vivid prominences dancing against the faint corona. This is a short sequence of photos captured during the first minute, showing the subtle orbital motion of the event.
Cosmic Collision! 🌌 Astronomers using the @GeminiObs North telescope captured this dazzling image of UGC 12914 and UGC 12915, which are nicknamed the Taffy Galaxies. https://t.co/p0JFnVWyTK
I reworked the Milky Way's stars from using spheres in a particle system to using geometry nodes to make them camera-facing billboards that scale and fade out when dim enough. Improving performance, precisely controlling their pixel width, and letting me add millions more (WIP)
