"One film closes a circle. The others open a distance. One man walks a red carpet as slowly as physics will allow, in a jacket that says FAST FOREVER, honoring 25 years of speed by temporarily refusing it. Another man walks on a similar rhythm to a seat in a small upstairs room and speaks, quietly, about the cinema of the gap, the cinema of what happens between images when you give them space to breathe. A moment to meditate on how much time is needed in let films grow in time instead of working with the immediate reactions..."

AFTER de Anthony Lapia llega por fin a @CinetecaMexico 🌊
From Jabalia refugee camp, he dreamt of return to his hometown: Majdal Asqalan, Palestine. Israel assassinated Anas al-Sharif but cannot destroy his legacy, nor the dream of return he carried with him.
He made the courageous choice to stay in northern Gaza and Jabalia to be a voice for his people—even after enduring the loss of friends and family members and long periods of separation from his wife and children.
His final message spoke of Palestine as 'the heartbeat of every free person' and implored the world not to forget Gaza.
Yesterday, Israel killed Anas in a targeted attack, along with four of his colleagues, correspondent Muhammad Quraiqi, camera operators Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal, and Moamen Aliwa, and a sixth freelance journalist, Mohammad al-Khaldi.
This silencing of Gaza’s trusted voices comes as Israel’s security cabinet has approved a plan to invade Gaza City—the place from which Anas last spoke, reporting on intensifying bombardments and starvation.
EXCLUSIVE: More than 35 filmmakers affiliated with Mubi — including Radu Jude, Aki Kaurismäki and Joshua Oppenheimer — have signed a letter urging the distributor to reconsider its relationship with investor Sequoia Capital over its Israeli military ties.
"We don’t believe an arthouse film platform can meaningfully support a global community of cinephiles while also partnering with a company invested in murdering Palestinian artists and filmmakers," the letter reads.
