Today we, a supermajority of Registered Nurses at Cayuga Medical Center, are proud to announce that we are forming a union with @CWAUnion and have formally requested voluntary recognition from
@cayugamed .
One year ago today, the team and I beat out a 12 year incumbent! This journey as an elected official of The City of Ithaca has been an honor. Thank you so much to everyone who’s help towards it! @IthSolidarity@wfptompkins@IthacaDSA@ithacaTU
What an incredible Good Cause field launch yesterday! Might be our new record for doorstep pitches interrupted with “wow we need that” 👀
Special thanks to tenant leaders on Council Kayla & Phoebe, and to Mayor Cantelmo for supporting strong opt-in! 🏠🗳️

As a Council member who ran their campaign on increased Tenant Protections, and as a Tenant I am ecstatic that the City of Ithaca is considering Good Cause Eviction
Thank you to my comrades @ithacaTU & @IthacaDSA for all the amazing organizing work you’ve all done!
I am thrilled to announce the Common Council of the City of Ithaca will be considering a local law to opt into the Good Cause Eviction protections now enshrined into state law.
Fantastic turnout tonight for our event with @NYWFP@Jasgripper@AnaMariaforNY working to build our progressive movement of working people! Thanks to our electeds @Matos_ith@Pillar4Tompkins & @AlderwomanKumar for joining us & our endorsed champion @JoshRileyUE for stopping by!
I wouldn’t have won my race for Common Council without the support of the WFP. On June 1, join me and NYWFP co-directors to learn how we’re building power for working people around the state. We’ll discuss the role of elections in this moment and ways to plug in!
Ithaca! We’re excited to share that @NYWFP co-directors @Jasgripper@AnaMariaforNY will be joining us for a party building gathering on June 1st @LiquidStateBeer!
Want to help us build a progressive, multi-racial movement of working people to transform our communities? Join us!
PERSPECTIVE: In 1969, over 100 Black students (some of them armed!) seized and held a building at Cornell University. It ended peacefully. One of the youngest occupiers, Zachary Carter, went on to become a respected judge, a U.S. Attorney, and NYC's Corporation Counsel.
I stand in solidarity with the brave students organizing for divestment across the nation. Putting your body on the line in solidarity with others is a sacred act. It’s crucial that universities, including Cornell, respect students’ free expression and avoid violent escalation.
As a tenant, who’s faced a non-renewal situation I support Good Cause Eviction and Increased Tenants Protection.
It was honor to join @AMKelles and @ithacaTU to call for Statewide Good Cause Eviction!
Today @AMKelles and @Matos_ith joined Ithaca tenants to call for statewide #GoodCause eviction.
Good Cause is a common sense tenant protections that upstate tenants need to stabilize our homes. We need it statewide, and we need it now.
It's clear Patrick Kuehl withheld information from most Ward 4 voters & lied to press so the public wouldn’t know the election was contested. Voters deserve honesty & openness—this is the opposite. He knew he couldn’t beat Jorge's labor, tenant & trans rights record in the open.
Misleading the press and hiding from your would-be constituents is not an ethical way to run a campaign — it's coming from fear the power of socialists in office & The Solidarity Slate. We are making real changes and this is an underhanded attempt to stop popular change
Patrick Kuehl lied to local press about running for Common Council, and when his friends began to find out, he pushed them not to go public.
The people of Ward 4 deserve better than secret elections and politicians who suppress turnout.
They deserve open democracy.
Congrats to @IthacaDSA on two general election Common Council wins! Kayla Matos defeated a 12-year incumbent in Ward 1, a huge victory for the Solidarity Slate.
