I recall Tesco doing this before a recession…….🤔 overcommitted. There is already an over provision of food stores in NI and whilst they are after market share. Not convinced that people will ditch the big players.
Another new planning application in from Lidl, this time in Coalisland as it ramps up its expansion plans by targeting smaller population catchment areas. I count 12 new sites either in the planning system or with planning approval (on top of its existing 44 in NI).
@andyhayes811 Very true. No F100 format lidls either and targeting lower tier towns - Portglenone, Donaghadee, Coalisland etc to go after Spar, Niza, Centra and SuperValu sites.
County Hall in Ballymena is to be sold as part of an ongoing rationalisation of govt offices in NI. The property on the upmarket Galgorm Road would be of interest to housing developers. It also abuts Galgorm Castle estate.
Failings with Northern Ireland plannings appeals system are becoming a barrier for the economy to grow here, an @NIAuditOffice report has said.
