Proud to have the endorsement of @SanFranciscoPOA! Over the months I’ve gotten to know Pres McCray and talk about ways to improve our city. She and the SFPD are great servants to the public and I look forward to supporting them on their mission to keep us all safe. Thank you!!!
@AT415287548@PJBworldview Court date has been pushed back to Nov. Scheduling is slower than we hoped, but once in court, a decision should come quickly. The presiding judge made encouraging comments, noting the City is acting irresponsibly by moving forward with changes while a lawsuit is still pending.

Hardscaping should stop until the lawsuit is resolved.
This feels desperate and underhanded.
Where is the $$ from? .@RecParkSF is facing a $15M deficit.
Why is this barely used non-park prioritized over neighborhood parks?
And for those who will inevitably respond: "just closing the road makes it a park!!"
Maybe . . . ?
BUT that's not what the public was sold on.
The public was dishonestly sold on a gorgeous park - as "parks" are commonly understood.
This 👇 and other renderings have since been REMOVED from the Prop K / Ocean Beach Park website, which would lead a reasonable person to believe there was intent to mislead the public:
**Excite voters with beautiful pics before the election, then reel it way back after you get the vote you wanted.**
Is anyone going to hold Prop K accountable for the fraud committed on voters?

The cessation of illicit drug use and long-term recovery from addiction should be the primary objective of San Francisco’s drug policy. Today I’m introducing a “Recovery First Ordinance” that will enshrine that principle into local law. (1/5)

Great post by David Nothmann, Global C-Suite Executive/Ag Appasionato: Another great event hosted by San Francisco Farm bureau last night at a fantastic venue: Unwine'd SF in the #WestPortal neighborhood. Matilda's Bloombox Co-Founders Emily Boschetto and Matthew Boschetto and one of their key local suppliers, Green Valley Floral in Salinas - represented by 3rd generation family member John Louie, provided an insightful overview of their respective businesses. Matlida's provides fresh flower delivery to your door (in the greater Bay Area today) utilizing local suppliers - at a reasonable price (all in ~$50).
According to 2022 USDA census data:
1. Domestic cut flower sales increased by $90 million from the 2017 census.
2. Imports of cut flowers were valued at $1.9 billion in 2022, an increase of $783 million from 2017.
3. 80% of cut flowers purchased in the US are still imported (and this percentage has grown dramatically over the past 20 years).
4. The value of domestic floriculture rose 9% from 2015 to $4.77 billion in 2018.
Emily and John discussed some of the advantages of buying local and some of the challenges producing locally while competing with global competitors. One key takeaway - SMELL the difference. Locally grown flowers generally provide a more robust and appealing fragrance, a benefit most consumers don't even realize they have lost over time as imported flowers dominate the market. So, take a minute to smell your roses.
Do you live in the Bay Area and want to attend a future event organized by the San Francisco Farm bureau!?! Contact our membership lead, Jasmine Shih (@JazSVC), or go to https://t.co/HKN2ggRtFZ to find out more information. One upcoming event in June that I'm especially excited about: #Startup #PitchSession with panelist judges - something I love to attend and get to do this week serving as a panelist via Food & Beverage Pitch Lounge.
Thanks to San Francisco Farm bureau leadership: Fiona Ma, Seth Doulton, Gary Soiseth, Tyler Lyons, and Bill Mattos.

@Matt4D7 I just learned a phrase. "Not In My Term Of Office" or NIMTOO. Electeds like to blame climate change like in LA fires. Or NIMBYs for unaffordable housing. While taking away Generational Wealth through 2020 Proposition 19.
Donations from all over SF will head down to LA to support those affected by the fires. Grateful for your leadership @Matt4D7 and support from @StIgnatius boys, Shaws Ice Cream, @matildasbloombx and all those that donated!
We have a chance today to set the standard for preparedness going forward. While the City has many differences to LA, getting caught on your heels is universal. Let’s not risk it- let’s have a plan.

OPINION: Local officials and the San Francisco community need to build out and expand our emergency foundations — so we can truly build a safe, sustainable city for the future, writes @Matt4D7.

@MissionLoco True but I am not comparing the two, but it certainly highlights what lack of preparedness can result in. SF is not adequately prepared for what they should be.
When I decided to run for office in San Francisco and I delved deeper into West Side issues—especially around housing solutions—I discovered the AWSS(Auxiliary Water Supply System), essentially the West Side’s emergency water system, and how insufficient it is in the event of a massive fire. The system is gravity-fed, loses pressure, and is susceptible to the same supply issues as LA County.
The 1906 earthquake didn’t destroy the city—the fire did.
While boulevards were built as firebreaks, climate change and weather patterns have shown that a huge fire can easily jump across those lengths and spread through West Side neighborhoods.
Accountability rests on both our government, who time and time again have chosen primary goals without understanding—or caring about—the secondary and tertiary effects, which in this case are deadly and unconscionably costly.
I hope San Francisco wakes up. I hope California wakes up. I hope we start to see the long-term effects of our decisions at the highest levels—and how they impact society as a whole—rather than focusing on narrow, ideological outcomes.
NEW: I am calling for an independent investigation into the loss of water pressure to local fire hydrants and the reported unavailability of water supplies from the Santa Ynez Reservoir.
We need answers to ensure this does not happen again and we have every resource available to fight these catastrophic fires.
Possibly, I do not know that information but I will look into it. Thank you.
I reckon it still does not solve the pressure and resupply issues and considering the state’s housing mandate and the push the densify the West Side, is inadequate for the future.
The SFFD did demo a hose tender that could be pulled from Lake Merced last year, but there are logistical and power constraints on those too.
The East Side has two pump stations and, from what I learned, we would need a similar type of solution on the West Side for it to be protected. Only problem is that will be in the $Bs.
Please work with your team to set up emergency evacuation plans on the Westside BEFORE you allow the great highway to close permanently in cars. You have seen what is going on in LA - we need our escape routes and the great highway is a main artery for us.
At a minimum; our water systems need to be upgraded and we need our siren system fixed. Show us that traffic mitigation can work BEFORE the highway is closed. 19th Avenue has two lanes closed right now and the great highway is closed. Look at the traffic - even at 9pm on Friday night on 19th avenue. We CANNOT live in gridlock.
If you want us to frequent businesses, if you want people to come in from outside of the city to spend money, closing our roads (especially a major artery is NOT helpful.
What is even scarier is that this issue does not win votes and, history has proven, our leaders do not prioritize it once people get into office. It’s more convenient to kick it down the road then tackle the issue head on. We should not wait for the next “wake-up-call.”
