4 of the tracks on HHT were recorded straight to Tascam 388 tape at The Creamery studio on a hot summer's day. Shown is Hearing Things hearing Hearing Things during playback and Matt in the sax tracking room / kitchen that was alive with growing things.
Here's Hearing Things is out NOW.
Bandleader/Saxophonist/Composer @mattbauder is accompanied on all 10 tracks by @JPSchlegelmilch and @VinnieSperrazza. Their seamless collaboration reveals a curiosity rivaled only by its sense of humor.

Tonight!! Come to Nublu for the Hearing Things Record Release Party!! #hearingthings is one of my favorite bands, #sax driven #instrumentals by the great 🎷⭐️ @mattBauder! I’m honored to be the dj for the evening... https://t.co/r34Kuct4qT
I first played with Elizabeth Pupo-Walker in the amazing Zemog El Gallo Bueno around 2005. I was completely intimidated by her cool mastery on stage. 14 years later I’ve mustered the courage to ask her to play with Hearing Things at our release party. She said yes!
Our good friend @michael_leviton brought his 1940’s photo equipment to the HHT session and generated some haunting images of the band. Some of these photos made their way to the LP cover through the imaginative design of John Leamy.
For extra firepower on live shows Hearing Things turns to Ava Mendoza (@avaavamendoza) who is an unstoppable force on the guitar. Ava is impossible to categorize but brings a timeless yet adventurous sonic energy that is a perfect match for the Hearing Things mission.
Ideomotor probably won’t be the radio single from Here’s Hearing Things but the song who’s title comes from a Ouija board phenomenon conjured what I think were real friendly ghost communications in the creepiest studio in Brooklyn.
6 songs on HHT were recorded by Don Godwin at Phantom Center. The legendary space used by Sonic Youth, John Zorn etc is thought to be haunted. When Tracking Ideomotor I nearly stopped us because of a voice in the headphones. No one else heard it and I get chills listening back.
Thanks so much to @mattbauder of Hearing Things for the interview on High Plains Morning today @HPPR! The new album, "Here's Hearing Things" is out THIS WEEK! Thanks to @yeggsrecords; WE NEEDED THIS! Learn more here, y'all. https://t.co/x4ZnyMIFGh
The first time I heard @VinnieSperrazza play was at Sunny’s Bar. The only seat was about 6 in from the ride cymbal and I feared for my eardrums. Amazingly, I had the best seat in the house because of his amazing control of the drums. I knew I had to have him in Hearing Things.
This Thursday at @nublu in the East Village! Debuting a new project of ambient leaning saxophone featuring balladry. Following @mattbauder Hearing Things as they celebrate their new release out now on @yeggsrecords
I first contacted @JPSchlegelmilch because I saw a picture of him playing the same organ as Sun Ra. He immediately tackled Hearing Things songs playing bass, melodies, riffs & strangeness all simultaneously. We often joke that he’s the only one who knows the songs, but its true.
