__
Wrote and filmed my first spoken word this week in honor of Good Friday and Easter. I hope this message is an encouragement to you in this dark time.

Me: “Jefferson! Did you have fun at kid’s church this morning?”
Him (my 4 yr old): “No, I didn’t.”
Me: “Oh no! Why not?”
Him: “Because I just don’t like how the Bible tells me so.”
We’ve all been there kid. We’ve all been there. 😂
Humbled and honored to share that I have passed my oral comprehensive exam for my PhD in systematic theology and church history.
So much more to learn but beyond excited to begin writing & sharing what I’m learning with others to advance the kingdom. On to dissertation!
Enjoyed having my old college friend @jordan_kosinski at Calvary this morning to bring the word and share about their church plant in Sunbury, OH. Also had some other alumni join us this morning!
@joshteis I agree w/ the critique of the OP & think pastors should be more critical in evaluating evangelism than anything else, because nothing is more important to get right.
Yet I’m with you @joshteis in that I wish I saw more thoughtful & winsome critiques than offhand & pointed ones
This morning, we voted in two new pastors here at Calvary who will help us reach Gwinnett County for the kingdom! 🎉🎉

So excited for what’s ahead for us! 🥳👏👏
Eloise decided to celebrate Reformation Day by dressing up as a 16th century Protestant German princess.

Jefferson’s costume represents some sort of Pagan holiday that happens to fall on this same day. We are praying for him. #prayforJefferson#happyreformationday
@joshteis CN is not a movement of Christians who love their country but of conflation between the kingdom of God & the kingdom of America, which I know you agree is a dangerous idea.
@joshteis The issue is that CN is not the combination of love for Christ & love for nation. But similar to the phrase “fundamental Christianity,” the phrase represents a historical/cultural movement that is in reality much more than simply what these two words represent on their own.
@davidgreen1517 In my seminary preaching classes, they didn’t let us use cross-references at all to make sure we preached the text and only the text. It was a very helpful exercise. I didn’t realize how dependent I was on using them in my explanation of a text.
@j0sh_j0hnson Hm, then respectively: 1) Engage: A Practical Guide to Evangelism, Evangelism & the Sovereignty of God (Packer), A History of Evangelism in North America (Johnston), Turning Everyday Conversations into Gospel Conversations (Scroggins), Sharing Jesus w/o Freaking Out (Hildreth)
@rynhayden If what you meant is that they have not published anything that has really added to the larger theological scholarly conversation within broader evangelicalism, then I agree, and I would guess that most honest IFBs would agree and even be okay with that statement.
@rynhayden If by “anything of substance,” you mean that they haven’t published anything that has made an impact on our world or helped people, of course that’s not true, and I think you would agree. I think that’s how many interpreted this post and why so many have pushed back.
