@djpierrephuture Is this mostly on the US side? The likes of AceMoMa and Kush Jones are getting booked loads in UK/Europe but heard from one of that circle that older heads in the US scene are gatekeeping and they're not being offered fees close to what they get across the pond. Sad.

@LoJamMusic Many electronic music heads are a pretty snobbish. They think that their sensibilities towards genre/style are the purest or most legitimate/credible (does make me laugh when 40-year-old house heads hate on harder styles and trance, and I think this comes from a similar place)

@aerielist These days, I think they’re one and the same. I remember when I first started going raving around 2006/7 and the sound the likes of Krafty Kuts and Scratchperverts were playing was typically referred to as breakbeat, but it’s pretty redundant as a genre umbrella in 2022 (imo)

Emergence of the internet meant many traditional revenue streams became obsolete (classified ads etc) and they do have to pay their staff. It’s either clickbait for views or paywalls 🤷‍♂️
