Starting a language is genuinely the hardest part. Don't give up! Stick with it and you'd be amazed that 'learning' is just reading or watching stuff you would otherwise do in your native language #langtwt
I'm sure there are a ton of great apps out there to help your language learning.
I just find it more rewarding to read right now.
Fewer flashing badges and icons and just time with the language... helps the dopamine addiction too

Had someone complain to me there is no proof that comprehensible input works. Only shadowing and grammar studies are ‘proven’ to work apparently…
I guess I’ll be over here enjoying these videos and graphic novels then… 🤷♂️

Martial arts and learning languages taught me one of the most powerful lessons…
Consistency is powerful.
It isn’t loud or exciting but with time it gets a lot done.

@invioxde I started with Olly Richards’ course Spanish Uncovered and moved on to Dreaming Spanish and regular italki tutors. It is doable if you put it 3-4 hours a day
Anyone else always have words from their target language swirling round their head as soon as they wake up?
Feels like my brain is trying to organise the new information while I sleep

What are people’s thoughts on the whole passive listening approach?
If I’m not actively listening to something I don’t feel I benefit much but know know any evidence for or against.
What say you #langtwt? 🤔
@luketruman25 Good point. If I am trying to listen to anything to follow the content I think I’d that as active. If it in the background whilst I am doing other tasks and I am not deliberately trying to follow it I think of that as passive
@FloatingIdiomas Interesting. I guess it is some kind of input for those struggling to find time or get started. Plus at times it will be active as you tune in and out of the material. Would love to know some research but not sure how a study could reliably be done
Ahhh… that bit where I’m starting to be fine with some native content and then suddenly I’m getting only every other word 🤯.
More input - keep going
