Zohran Mamdani is the Mayor of New York City and should absolutely be at the memorial on Friday.

He's also a Muslim New Yorker—part of a vibrant community that's essential to this city, a community that lost many of its own on 9/11 and then endured terrible discrimination in its aftermath. 

9/11 should be a day for mourning those we lost, honoring the heroes who served, and bringing our city together.  This rhetoric from Vickie and others does the opposite.  It is disgusting and needs to stop.

Today my office is releasing a major new analysis of income inequality in NYC.

We found that NYC has grown considerably more unequal since 2019. Nearly two-thirds of real income growth went to the top 1%, while median income actually fell after inflation and the bottom 90% saw essentially no real gains. Some of the reaction to Moody’s revision to a negative fiscal outlook for NYC is way over the top.

We are not in a “downward spiral”, we are not “driving off a cliff”.

NYC’s economy is growing. Tax revenue is growing. Office space is being rented at the fastest rate in 20 years. We had 65m tourists last year.

Yes we have a structural problem in our budget that has been building for years (we spend more than we bring in), which is what Moody’s is reacting to. But this is 100% fixable.

Most other cities in America would be lucky to have an economy as strong as NYC’s.
