Records provided to me show a man named Nils Lucander applied to be interim mayor of Charlotte despite not being eligible because he is unaffiliated and lives in the town of Davidson. Applicants were asked to submit their resume but Lucander instead attached this picture of food on the grill. Looks good.
Richard Childress news conference has begun.
He says they were going to announce today that Kyle Busch was going to return to RCR in 2027. That was the original plan for today, at Michigan.
The 2026 Coca-Cola 600 will be the first NASCAR Cup Series race without an “Earnhardt” or “Busch” in the field since 1979.
It is the first Coca-Cola 600 without either since 1977. Richard Petty won that race.
The 47 and 49-year streaks will be broken tonight.
Richard Childress Racing has elected to suspend use of the No. 8 and will run the No. 33 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and beyond. Kyle Busch was instrumental in the design of RCR’s stylized No. 8 and it has become synonymous with Kyle and an important symbol for his fans and the NASCAR industry. No one can carry it forward to the level that he did. The No. 8 is reserved and ready for Brexton Busch when he is ready to go NASCAR racing.
Kyle and I had a really challenging existence for many years. But we luckily took the time to figure out our differences and that was something he instigated with a conversation in his bus around how we each managed our racing teams. I was super eager for us to get on better terms. But it was he who made the effort for that to be possible. We did some media together also to laugh through some of the things we put each other through many years ago. Most recently we had even been discussing him running my Late Model at Wilkesboro this summer. He seemed extremely happy and we had planned to meet up next Thursday to get his seat to the shop. He laughed over the idea of his fans and JRM fans having to cheer in unison during that race.
Kyle was one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history. No one can deny that. But he was also a father, a husband, brother, son, and a friend to many. My heart is broken for the Busch family. I will never be able to make sense of this loss but I am thankful that we had found a way to become friends.
We mourn the loss of Rep. Barney Frank, a trailblazer who dedicated his career to fighting for working Americans and consumer rights.
One of the first openly gay members of Congress, his leadership was also instrumental in the fight for marriage equality.
May he rest in peace.
Barney Frank was one of a kind. For more than three decades in Congress, he fought tirelessly for the people of Massachusetts, helped make housing more affordable, stood up for the rights of LGBTQ+ Americans, and helped pass one of the most sweeping financial reforms in history designed to protect consumers and prevent another financial crisis. Barney’s passion and wit were second to none, and our thoughts are with his family today.

whenever we have conversation about teacher pay, I think we forget that even though most teachers aren't paid particularly well, there are states where it's shockingly abysmal.
in my county in NC, you cap out at about ~$60k....after 25+ years of teaching.
Hocevar, a non nepo baby essentially coming out of nowhere in an unsuspecting race team with a driving style and personality that resonates with the fans is taking over NASCAR. Good for the sport.
Democrat James Talarico posted this in 2012:
“Looking forward to spending my birthday with the 6th grade boys…”
No teacher, let alone a U.S. Senate candidate, should ever post that.
