Mainly tweet about #fpl. Had one good season (71 OR & BBC fantasy606 winner 20/21) and now think Iโm an expert๐ also a Christian pastor at @weareemmanuel
@prodnose Evening Danny, looking forward to seeing you and Bob tomorrow night but worried about the cup final going to extra time/penalties. Youโre not going to come out at 7.30pm if itโs going on are you??
@5liveSport Iโm sorry but this is not how the shaking hands emoji works. You need two people/events that share a commonality, not one thing that one person happens to do. Youโre welcome.
@_Joshuwah@SebWassell Ha ha, yes, compared with last season it is going very badly indeed. In the grand scheme of things it's just disappointingly average. Languishing ~200k.
Nice chatting with you Josh!
@_Joshuwah@SebWassell is overstating the case. This is what I got from Seb's initial tweet but I don't think you 100% agree with based on our discussion.
@_Joshuwah@SebWassell In terms of your summation, yes I think there are good arguments for veganism, both utilitarian and from a moral/good society perspective.
But I think that to claim that those who aren't vegan but are more broadly against animal cruelty is necessarily logically inconsistent...
@_Joshuwah@SebWassell But what I'd say is that one of the reasons I am a Christian is that it gives more of a basis to these questions of morality and value. I absolutely think that people should be responsible towards the natural world and animals.
@_Joshuwah@SebWassell It doesn't really go anywhere, which is what the other responses (not yours) in this thread illustrate. One bunch of people saying, 'this is not acceptable' and another bunch saying, 'yes it is'. Claims to being more logical or consistent can't ultimately be substantiated imo.
@_Joshuwah@SebWassell I have zero problem with that vision. I think it's great. But someone else's vision of the 'kind of life they want to lead' includes eating burgers too. And that's what the discussion around this topic is: One person's vision of what is good/right/acceptable compared to another.
@_Joshuwah@SebWassell I very much admire your worldview that prizes the reduction of suffering! Not going to challenge that!
But where does that come from, to you? I am genuinely interested to know why you are opposed to the suffering of a pig when it makes no practical difference to your life?
@SebWassell@_Joshuwah With respect, I have tried to examine what you've said and my point is that there isn't a contradiction, it's a logical choice to treat different animals differently. One that you disagree with on a moral ground (which I don't have a problem with), but still can be logical imo.
@_Joshuwah@SebWassell I am interested to know why you are (I am inferring) against the suffering of animals though? What is your basis for the claim that they shouldn't be made to suffer?
@_Joshuwah@SebWassell But I'm not saying that just because it's a pig, and its socially acceptable to eat pigs that you can do whatever you like to them.
I admit that I am inconsistent in that don't care as much as I should about HOW pigs are treated in meat production.
