@QuantumTumbler The only circular argument I see is refusing to test it when the only way out is to actually try. If you don’t want to build it, at least don’t discourage those who do. The Wright brothers didn’t solve flight by debating, they built and flew. History is made by doers.
@aledeniz If somebody doesn't educate their kids they will not eat when old. Self correcting as it should be
We really need to set future oriented policies or we risk extinction
@aledeniz We ran the experiment for 100 yrs and discovered that, without the correct incentives, humanity is not responsible enough to not end itself.
We should revert to old rural incentives wrapped in modern technology: Pensions must be proportional only to offspring's income.
@QuantumTumbler I don't see why B ≠ C at t₀.
Is it because atoms care about their history? Aren't atoms Markovian? Do they have hidden variables?
Bell's inequality says no.
If we throw out scientific realism, nothing is provable.
@QuantumTumbler The only difference is C’s causal history has a “hard start” at t₀. From t₀ onward its dynamics are identical and unbroken.
Is consciousness generated by the ACP itself or by some mystical “original substrate” or unbroken chain back to the womb?
@QuantumTumbler A = original biological brain
B = same brain after full gradual SoT
C = instantaneous perfect duplicate of B at time t₀.
You accept B is conscious (ACP never stopped).
So why isn’t C conscious the moment it exists?
@QuantumTumbler No, you asked how to reach the mountain peak & I gave a plausible path.
You asked if third consc can arise from atoms; I showed that you continuously replace your substrate yet still remain you (to the extreme=SoT).Can't see why it wouldn't apply to a third apart from skepticism
@QuantumTumbler No, it's not circular. I'm explicating what can be deduced if the Ship of Theseus turns out to be correct. And I believe it is.
Unfortunately, the only way to know if it is correct is to actually do it.
@QuantumTumbler Ofc if you accept the Ship of Theseus consciousness is the substrate independent Active Causal Process itself. If you take my ACP blueprint,==rules, instantiate it in an evolving substrate, then subtract the diff between my BP and yours,why wouldn't that experience consciousness?
@QuantumTumbler If you start from the consciousness in your brain and you continuously and atomicaly substitute each neuron with an artificial analog (able of short/spiking and long/EM distance computation),without any clear temporal cutting, are you still you?Do you have substrate independence?
@AlbertoBagnai a proposito di moneta complementare, ho un codice per una stablecoin con distribuzione quotidiana del 90% dell interesse generato dai BTP sottostanti. Il debito diventa circolante in mano al proprio popolo, senza cambiare moneta. Non so cosa stiamo aspettando
@drmichaellevin If there's no purpose, the best choice might be to detach as soon as possible. But if there is, the most adaptive path would be to understand why.
Is there a meaning to suffer?
@drmichaellevin Do they have some kind of nociceptors?
I've always wondered: if a neuro-organoid isn't bound by our genetic constraints, would it choose to detach from a noxa, or would it learn to avoid it?
Could this be seen as a proxy for the metaphysical question of purpose?
