We are dedicated to promoting physical activity for young children and are developing some exciting yet simple resources to get children moving every day!
'Shared widely already' yet why have #schools not been informed officially yet? The future funding of the #PEPremium looks to be in serious doubt not that we wholly object in light of misuse of this 'ring fenced' funding e.g. #Academies. What sustainable impact for #EYFS PD & PE?
We hope that all #EarlyYears specialists are fully supporting National Year of Reading 2026 but as a reminder, it is recommended that they access @Literacy_Trust resource support: https://t.co/Pb7yNj73Qp
@bphillipsonMP I am a PE advisor working with primary schools. Following on from today’s PESSPA network webinar is there any clarification around amount of funding schools will receive- Autumn transition period & will schools need to fill in the digital tracker? Will schools heavy workloads will clarification come this month? Thank you @LondonPehwb@afPE_PE@AliOliverYST@MattersActive@GATSportJK
We have long warned that this could be the outcome following YEARS of too many schools, largely #Academies & #AcademyTrusts who have abused the grant e.g. using for PPA cover, using to pay PE Teacher's salary annually, forcing 'subject leaders' to make up the statutory report etc
The PE and sport premium will be scrapped and replaced by a new school sports ‘partnerships network’ in a move described as ‘deeply concerning’ by heads' leaders

@warwickmansell@DanielKebedeNEU We have to ask @warwickmansell if he has formally approached both @educationgovuk & @CommonsEd to present the most alarming of disclosures from such a weighty amount of investigative findings in relation to Academy Trust malpractice? They should've approached him by now of course.
This really resonates, highlighting the values of care, responsibility and compassion for each other. We try hard to encourage this ethos, but it still surprises us how many parents tell their children to ignore us as cleaning up and tidying away is not their job!
"The changes to PE from next year proposed by Phillipson will replace the #SportsPremium with a PE and school sports partnership network from the next academic year, mandating two hours a week of physical activity and building partnerships with schools and local sports clubs": https://t.co/g10VMqSKty
Lifting the lid on poor strategic governance:
1) Govt. Spokesperson forgetting their responsibility to address implementation of effective accountability + scrutiny: "But for too long, access to the best sporting opportunities has been a postcode lottery for young people, with an inconsistent offer across the country" (N.B: No school in receipt of the PE Premium grant has been inspected on-site to test integrity of ACTUAL spend and sustainable impact since HMI ceased their responsibility to do so back in Sept 2019)
2) “By creating partnerships between schools, local clubs and sports experts, we will target funding and support where it is needed most – including for more disadvantaged pupils and those with Send [special educational needs and disabilities] – bringing elite sporting expertise into primary and secondary schools across the country.” Precisely what the last two national PE + Sport Strategies were meant to be delivering therefore absolutely nothing new here.
3) "Mandating two hours a week of PHYSICAL ACTIVITY" (N.B: NOT PE then?) It could be argued by schools that 2 hrs PA activity is already occurring given play/ lunchtime breaks; 'timetabled' PE lessons: OSHL provision. No legislative order brought into place thus far given content of Childrens' Wellbeing + Schools Act as well as Schools White Paper.

At a time when schools desperately need to know the future of #PrimaryPESportPremium funding from @educationgovuk so that they can plan for the new academic year, we have the clearest indication now that it will be axed:
"Plan for it not to be there..."
"World wide events and economic challenges have impacted funding decisions' e.g. Strategic Defence Review; Middle East; UK borrowing costs; stagnant economic growth; public sector pay demands; nationalisation costs; threat to trade deals etc

An opportunity for DfE to 'test' the quality of sustainability impact stemming from 13 years of 'ringfenced' funding? 🤔

@DanielKebedeNEU@educationgovuk The Exchequer would have every right to state that #Education has been adequately budgeted for. It is HOW #AcademyTrusts have CHOSEN to spend their budget that remains disproportionately allocated to overpaid non-teaching Senior Leaders instead of member schools' needs:
