The reason most Canadians don't seem to care about the economy is because just over 25% of employed work for the government and the 55+ age group which are the only demographics to have gained employment rates have also the highest percentile of defined benefits pension plan.

So we have a socioeconomic situation where over half don't have any financial interest in increasing productivity or care for the well being of the private sector but tell future generations to just lift their elbows a little higher as they vote to replace them with foreigners.

Liberals will argue that these are "growing pains." That this is just a temporary slump before the economy ramps back up and Canada is a world leader in whatever, whatever, whatever.

But the truth is, this is the reality of money laundering masquerading as ideological zealotry. Canadians bought into the platitudes and "elbows up" slogans because in their minds platitudes form the real world even though in the real world, Liberal platitudes and reality rarely intersect.

So they spent 11 straight years voting for people who said nice things while embezzling billions of their tax dollars into slush funds and other schemes.

None of the Liberal "projects" delivered any returns. Most never got off the ground. Justin Trudeau and now Mark Carney have funneled billions into these black holes that can't even be audited because the Liberals have admitted on multiple occasions that they didn't track the spending.

We've been in a recession for a while, it's just now our Liberal government can't obscure the numbers. Without a US trade deal we will undoubtedly enter a depression.

But hey, elbows up and sunny ways and LGBTQWEFUNLMNOP and diversity and land acknowledgements and climate change and net zero and all that.
