Already 100 pages into The Cauldron, frankly difficult to put down. Pungent language, breathtaking pace and remarkable breadth of analysis. Congratulations @simonmontefiore
Apartheid lives on in the UK: women told to cover their faces, testimony counting for only half in many Sharia courts, oppressed in communities held together by cousin marriage, victims of honour beatings. Why tolerate this intolerance?

@Simon_Hughes__ I didn’t fully follow your story. Apologies. Was the reason for the bankruptcy that he invested badly in a tax avoidance vehicle? Or something else? Thanks for any guidance you can provide..
🚨 New paper in @NatureComms: (annoyingly) using college students to study cross-cultural effects underestimates the size of cultural differences. More education predicts more Westernization. Income & status don't. w/ Cindel White. 1/
"Change all laws and treaties that thwart robust border control. Detain those arriving. Sign return agreements with nations amenable to them. All the rest: deport to Rwanda or other nations willing to do a deal."

In terms of the imposition of norms I think Nathan must’ve missed a number of models. Boyd Richardson 1992 has a single punisher equilibrium. Boyd et al 2010 has a coalition that imposes norms. And Henrich et al 2015 shows another route through which things can be imposed.
Most immigrants don't qualify for welfare: you need to stay >5 yrs and ILR status to claim.
Some 96% of ILR qualify for UK passport. Most of those without one are EU citizens who have same rights as 1.3m Brits in the EU.

Set Declan Rice free — then he can be the best player on earth
Arsenal’s midfielder hates making mistakes but he must add risk to his game — as Roger Federer once did — to fulfil his huge potential and win Ballon d’Or

Unsure which bit of the column you disagree with @afneil. My point is the white working class has indeed been shafted - by DEI which put race above merit but also by nepotism/cronyism in media, law, etc which shuts out working class kids. Look at our own profession of journalism
The opposite is true. The Establishment has elevated DEI to the exclusion of all other characteristics. So that ethnicity, colour, race and religion matter more than class. This has hugely benefitted the metropolitan middle class and penalised working class kids of all types. That’s the Establishment stitch up.
