@erik_davis has anyone written a good account of punk's relationship w/ acid? I'm so curious: not just about the music that came out of it but like, what was that time like? I imagine chaotic and wild and weird and I'm wondering if anyone has captured that feeling.
@OshanJarow .. but also to be clear I've been thinking about this for like 3 hours, not a career, lol, so this isn't so much real pushback as me still missing pieces of a puzzle that I think is an interesting idea.
Okay thanks for listening to me. Cool podcast, dudes!
@PredictiveLife just listened to your interview by @OshanJarow. Here's where I struggle: when you begin, prediction is at the sensory level: you don't see "the world" -- you see your prediction and you notice any errors. This totally makes sense to me.
@OshanJarow Why couldn't I look at insta and update my generative model in a way that's like, "wow the world is big and now I feel prepared to enter new terrains I hadn't considered before?" It feels a bit handwavey.
I need it spelled out a bit more. Like I don't understand how "I don't see the world" builds up to "Social media makes my predictions about how my life should be worse". They feel like different theories. Is there a resource that lays this out for an enthusiastic layman?
But by the end, you're talking social media, and the predictions you're making are things like "what a relationship looks like." This just seems so many degrees of abstraction away from the sensory example. I don't necessarily doubt it's still valid, but I do feel like...
@YahooFantasyCC I run a pro pick league. In past versions of the app, we could easily navigate to that league. In the latest version of the app I don't see my league anywhere. The league exists and people have joined, but can't find it in the app. Am I missing something?
@weirdstudies I knew I was weird but how delighted I am today to have found that there's a podcast that talks about everything I think is interesting. Thanks for doing what y'all do.
Hi @JoshThomas87@viviennewalshe at director of episode whose twitter I don't know. The scene at the end of @EverythingsOkTV S02E02 where everyone starts doing EFT tapping is maybe one of my favorite scenes of television of all time.
@YahooFantasyCC for Pick 'Em leagues β what's happening with Broncos-Pats? I see on the support website you're calling that a week 6 game. In pick 'em, it's still showing up in Week 5 as "Postponed." What happens to the points people allotted for that game?
@nuut_co hi we know each other from the internet from like >15 years ago (TXM). The other day I had that "I've got a full tank of gas and a Weezer CD!" song stuck in my head. I don't remember what it was called, or what your band's name was, but your legacy lives on. :D
Ayyy @mollywood I will be in the audience during your @chicagoideas panel and I'd love a shoutout as the guy who says "I want to discuss a slightly different, but maybe related thing." I know it's not relevant but surely it will make me a celebrity to local #MakeMeSmart listeners
Now that @Marketplace has made https://t.co/iWM9XmGgOL, it seems like a good time to remind you about my Marketplace inspired (though much less detailed) https://t.co/wzvSPFvD0r. Go read up, guys.
