The Telegraph ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
The Telegraph calls “I Feel So Free” a magnificent return, declaring that Madonna “is back to her imperious best” — placing her firmly back at the centre of the pop universe.
The reviewer describes it as “an old-school banger, powered by a blistering house groove” with “hypnotic spoken-word vocals” — a searing love letter to Studio 54-style dancefloor escapism that is, in their words, “unapologetically, magnificently Madge.”
Confessions on a Dance Floor (2005) was, the Telegraph argues, the last time Madonna was truly at the centre of pop. With this new track — a teaser for the forthcoming Confessions II — the reviewer is unequivocal: she has “rediscovered her mojo and then some”, and the proof is in the music itself. The track “barely lets up across its near five-minute runtime”, building relentlessly as Madonna proclaims that the only place she can truly be herself is “in the anonymity of a crowded disco.”
The Queen of Pop is here to reclaim her crown.
