"The mistake I see the most is: 'I want to use it for a marketing tool and then keep all the control myself.'"

"You can get a lot of eyeballs with open source. But if you don't know who your community is, the value you provide them, and the value they provide you, that marketing effort of [GitHub] stars only will fizzle."
