Space Quest III (Sierra, 1989) is still one of the best adventure games ever made.

The humor in this game is timelessly brilliant. The graphics, though they show their age today, are still what I picture when I think of classic gaming - gorgeous pixel art that squeezed every drop of beauty out of a limited color palette. The opening and end credits are pure gold.

I know it’s hard - maybe even impossible - for younger gamers to understand what all the hype was about. From today’s perspective, the brutal difficulty and constant risk of death might seem excessive, but that’s exactly what I loved about Sierra adventures back then. You had to earn every step; nothing was handed to you.

Whether it was King’s Quest, Space Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, or Police Quest, they were all exceptionally high quality - right down to the packaging. Space Quest III featured a beautiful 3D embossed front cover, along with maps and other physical goodies.

Nothing but love for that era and that company.

President Trump is saying:
FISA 702 is critical for national security. It’s nothing new. FISA 702 is already in effect and protects our troops. It’s simply up for renewal April 20th.

It supports:
military targeting
counterterrorism
cyber intelligence

Massie is conflating the two FISA‘s and telling everyone Trump wants to spy on Americans. FISA Title I is domestic and requires a warrant - which Democrats abused anyway on Trump. FISA 702 is foreign surveillance and requires less hurdles.

The only ones to be scared are those such as Tucker Carlson who communicate with foreign adversaries.

Section 702 is designed for foreign surveillance, not domestic spying. It does not require individual warrants for foreign targets. Trump is pushing a clean reauthorization for national security reasons. Stop the BULLSHIT.

Several of your constituents have asked us to respond to this post.

We refer you to prior our comments to your colleague Rep. Lee. BUT with an additional addendum that others might find interesting.

Roughly 88% of Nevada’s transportation fuels — including nearly 90% of Southern Nevada’s supply and the Las Vegas area via the Calnev Pipeline — comes from California refineries.

With CA Democrat energy policy forcing the closure of major facilities, this dependency will mean higher prices & tighter supply ahead.

Nevada has virtually ZERO gasoline refining capacity of its own.

Just as Asian and European countries are learning that it is unwise to let their economies be vulnerable foreign geographic choke points --

We recommend Nevada decouple itself from CA energy policy as soon as possible.

Now having said that - allow us to also point out a number of votes you have cast which exacerbated this situation Nevadans now find themselves in.

Here are just 5 examples:

1. NAY on H.R. 1 — Lower Energy Costs Act (2023).
This bill boosted domestic oil/gas production & cut red tape to lower prices. You voted no. It passed 225-204.

2. NAY on rolling back the Methane Polluter Fee.
This tax raised producer costs passed to consumers at the pump. Opposing rollback kept it in place.

3. NAY on attacking critical oil & gas leasing reforms (2024).
Your vote helped preserve limits on new federal leases, reducing supply growth.

4. NAY on undermining federal blocks on LNG exports (2024).
Maintained uncertainty that discourages production & raises domestic fuel costs.

5. NAY on rushing pipeline review & coordination (2025).
Opposed faster approvals that would cut delays & bottlenecks for moving fuel efficiently.

We think it is important to remind you that you have been consistent in opposing more drilling, leasing, LNG & pipelines.

This is not helpful in producing more energy for Nevadans.

We respectfully ask that you not do that any more.

If you haven’t heard, and even if you have, Jimmy Kimmel said this about Markwayne Mullin, former Senator from Oklahoma, and our newest Secretary of Homeland Security:
“We have a plumber now protecting us from terrorism.”

Apparently, there has been some backlash. Plumbers were offended, obviously, as were parents of plumbers, spouses of plumbers, children of plumbers, and millions of people who have had a plumber show up when they needed one. Comedians were also offended, (the funny ones, anyway,) along with a surprising number of terrorists - especially those with access to hot and cold running water. However, in spite of the ensuing kerfuffle, @jimmykimmel doubled down.

“I’m not upset that the head of Homeland Security was a plumber,” he said, “I’m upset that he isn’t still a plumber." He further elucidated by adding, "I wouldn't put a plumber in charge of Homeland Security for the same reason I wouldn't call a five-star general to pull a rat out of my toilet, OK? We all have our areas of expertise.”

Being offended is always a choice, and I don’t choose to be offended by a joke, even one that comes at the expense of the skilled tradespeople my foundation tries to elevate. But I am a tad butt hurt by the suggestion that skilled workers should never evolve into something new, and that competence is somehow limited to one vocation. Obviously, expertise and skill are important. If I need a new kidney, I’d prefer a doctor do the surgery, not a late-night talk show host. But if the doctor in question used to host a talk show, why would I hold that against him?

Ten years ago, during one of the presidential debates, @MarcoRubio answered a workforce-related question by arguing that America needed to get shop class back into high schools. He concluded by saying, “What our country needs are more welders and fewer philosophers.” A lot of people on this page commented that Rubio and I were singing from the same hymnal, but in fact, we weren’t. At least not entirely. Because I don’t think the current shortage of welders has anything to do with an overabundance of philosophers. In fact, I think it’s a mistake to promote one vocation at the expense of the other. What we really need in this country, are more welders who can talk intelligently about Aristotle, and more philosophers who can run an even bead. More Generals, in other words, who can fix their own toilets, and more plumbers who can hold a powerful government job.

This is what Mullin did. He was a private citizen who mastered an essential skill and then turned that skill into a multi-million-dollar company that employed a lot of people and served a lot of customers. That gave him the freedom to do other things with his life, including a career in public service which got him into Congress, where he’s spent the last eleven years doing whatever Congressmen do. Now, he has a very consequential position in the Cabinet of the current administration.

Is that not the embodiment of the American Dream? I get that Jimmy Kimmel might have a problem with Mullin’s politics, but what possible objection could he have about the trajectory of his career, or his desire to do more than one thing with his life?

The only sensible thing to do in the wake of a moment this tone deaf, is remind America that the skills gap is wide, and getting wider. The shortage of skilled tradespeople is now headline news and closing it is nothing less than a matter of national security.
