A major new study published today by a panel of Democrats and Republicans ranks states by quality of life. The states at the top aren't the richest, and they don't have the highest tax rates -- although they do seem to do an unusually good job executing policy and sharing the wealth that they create. Often they have opposition parties strong enough to keep ruling parties nervous and effective.

When I was in elementary school, my parents took me to a Mariners game in Seattle.

I fell in love with Seattle for the passion the city has for its teams and the beauty of Safeco Field. I remember looking across from the ballpark, seeing the @KING5Seattle logo, and thinking how incredible it would be to work at a place like that.

Now, I’m excited to announce that I’m joining @KING5Sports and will be part of the new Ultimate Seattle Sports Show, live Monday through Friday at 10 a.m.

What makes this even more special is that after my fiancée @MCarterTV and I were both working at rival stations in Kentucky, we now get to be coworkers in Seattle. Having close friends and family in and around the area makes this a dream come true. It still feels surreal. God is good.

Matt Bowman has opted out of his minor league contract with the Twins. The club has until Wednesday to promote him or let him become a free agent. Bowman has been dominant, posting a 1.69 ERA with 25 K’s and 6 BBs in 21 1/3 IP at AAA St. Paul
