This is a new for me with a Sand Pro 5040. The hydraulic filter head mounting points failed. Saw hydraulic oil on the ground under unit while parked, pulled cover of pump area, saw filter was loose from rubbing on the frame due to it no longer being secured.
Based on seeing some others use a chain method, rigged up a chain from the hand truck frame down to the chain/kickstand bracket. Still heavy, but works pretty good to avoid rolling the cutting units on the ground especially if outside when power washing before grinding! (2/2)
I’ve always moved around @TheToroCompany RM 5010 series cutting units with a hand truck grabbing the cutting unit carrier frame, though RM 3100 cutting units are heavier and have a different carrier frame with no point to grab on to. (1/2)
It was a fun day yesterday having the @PatMcAfeeShow and @USABaseball on site ahead of the @WBCBaseball! Following the broadcast & workouts, ran a magnet through the set up area to check for any debris. Found very minimal, but is a good practice to avoid cutting unit damage!
Freshening up these cutting units on a 2019 @TheToroCompany RM3100 with new reels. First have to establish new reference marks for indexing on the grinder. The ends of this reel shaft have 0.006” of run out. Not major, just good to know to set the grinder up consistently.
Spray Rig cleaning can be an intensive process, but very satisfying after you are all done! Servicing our 2022 @TheToroCompany Multi-Pro 5800 next week so gave it a hot shower leading into its day on the lift. #keepemnice
This unit has just under 1,000 hrs and is approaching its 5th Birthday. It got a hot shower, performed open PM items, new tires to match our newer style, and tried to put a little shine back in it. Now to figure what to resurface the operators area with. (2/2).
As the holidays approach we slow down a bit before the rush of pre-season workouts and Spring Training. This gives me the opportunity to get my hands on our higher utilized pieces of our fleet, this week starting off with our @TheToroCompany Sand Pro 5040s (1/2)
Seller even gave me all the documentation on the service history and repairs since it was new in 2018. A hot pressure washer is a key part to maintaining a fleet in my opinion. Looking forward to having this to #keepemnice (2/2)
Found what I believe to be a Facebook Marketplace unicorn! Been on the hunt for a hot pressure washer for a long time, especially an electric one, and stumbled across this @karcher HDS 3.0/20 C EA. Fully functional, regularly serviced, and new pump installed in 2024! (1/2)
During grown in for overseed I take the time to give all our cutting units a good refresh. Some storm damage this fall made windscreen debris ingestion an issue. Most cutting unit got new bearings and seals this go around!
Matt Leis once worked on a golf course. He now works as a fleet and irrigation manager at a Major League Baseball team’s player development facility. He shares his story with @MTrentManning on a @reelturftechs podcast episode.

Was pretty impressed with these Galaxy 12/16.5 Hulk L5 Hard Surface tires we installed on our @CaterpillarInc 262D3 Skid Steer. First set installed just under 3 years ago and got good life out of them. Majority of our use is on asphalt and concrete.
We went with a set of @CarlisleTire 51101 Turf CTR 22x11.00-8 nhs and have been happy with them. A little more stout than a brand we were using previously. (2/2)
One mod we always perform on our @TheToroCompany SandPro 5040s is replacing the standard knobby tires with a Turf CRT tread tire. The knobby tread will leave indentations in the infield skin in higher moisture conditions that conditioner may not even fill. (1/2)
I still do log all my data for cutting units to identify trends after grinding. Also assists with planning on what may need reel replacements and bedknife restocks in the near future. (11/11)
Was installing a new 11-blade reel in a loaner Toro GR1000 we have on site for a special project, so was planning to take some extra measurements being a new reel. Started with a process I recently saw on the @reelturftechs YT channel regarding measuring reel shaft runout. (1/11)
Didn't get into the weeds with the bedknife grind this time, but will soon after reading @MikeRollinsSIP's Cutline is King book for the 3rd time this past weekend. Have some new measuring tools on order to use with bedknives going forward! Highly recommend this read! (10/11)
