פעם אחר פעם, אנחנו נגררים למשברים לפני שאנחנו מיישמים פתרונות סבירים שהיו מייתרים את המשבר. אם כוחות הביטחון הונחו לגבש תכנית לאפשר למנהיגים דתיים לגשת לאתרים הקדושים, גם ללא התקהלויות המוניות, זה גם יכל לקרות בשבוע שעבר.

כאשר הנחיות פיקוד העורף תורגמו לסידורים מעשיים במשטרת ישראל, האם הנזק התדמיתי של מניעת כניסה לבכיר דתי כזה נלקח בחשבון בכלל? האם המשבר המיותר הזה היה בין הגורמים שנשקלו?

מדינת ישראל שינתה הילוך, בצדק, מטיפול באיומים בטחוניים לאחר שכבר התנפחו למימדים מפלצתיים להסרת אותם איומים. כמו כן, אנחנו לא יכולים לטפל במשברים תקשורתיים-מדיניים כשהם מתפרצים, אלא חייבים למנוע אותם מראש. גם פה המגינה יכלה לפעול חכם. למנוע שריפות, לא רק לכבותן.

האיסור על התקהלויות המוניות מוצדק במאה אחוז. אבל אם השליח של האפיפיור רוצה לקחת על עצמו סיכון של תפילה בלי גישה למרחב מוגן גם כשהאיראנים מטרגטים את העיר העתיקה, שיהיה באחריותו. אנחנו לא צריכים להיות יותר חרדים לשלומו מאשר הוא חרד לשלומו של עצמו.

טוב שדובר המשטרה הבהירה, בסרטון באנגלית, שהיא בוחנת איזון יותר מקל. אבל זה לא היה צריך להגיע לכדי רף של משבר שמערב את הנשיא המדינה וראש ממשלת איטליה. הנזק כבר נעשה.
