Today, @CFPB is ordering @Navient to pay $120 million in refunds and penalties for its wide-ranging student loan servicing failures. More importantly, Navient, formerly known as Sallie Mae, will be banned from ever directly servicing federal student loans. https://t.co/NmMuALn1wO
“Borrowers enrolled in the SAVE Plan will be placed in an interest-free forbearance while our Administration continues to vigorously defend the SAVE Plan in court,” said Cardona. https://t.co/S4pXYpN9Ex
There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy. Although we don’t yet know exactly what happened, we should all be relieved that former President Trump wasn’t seriously hurt, and use this moment to recommit ourselves to civility and respect in our politics. Michelle and I are wishing him a quick recovery.
I am outraged by what happened tonight at President Trump’s rally. Political violence is abhorrent and has no place in America.
I pray for his health and am grateful he was able to walk off the stage tonight. I appreciate the secret service and law enforcement for their immediate response.
I am also praying for our deeply divided country. People should be able to have differing opinions without fear of violence or threats.
Tomorrow, I’ll be speaking at a @semafor event on the future of banking and payments. I’ll discuss the @CFPB’s work to jumpstart competition in a market dominated by a handful of powerful players. Tune in live tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. ET.

Today, @usedgov announced the approval of more than $6.1 billion in automatic federal student loan relief for nearly 317,000 borrowers who attended The Art Institutes. Thanks to @AGIowa, @MassAGO, and @PAAttorneyGen for providing evidence that contributed to ED’s decision: https://t.co/tUnQXnE1Hg
With this week's announcement, we’re on course to relieve student debt for over 30 million Americans.
See if you're in one of the groups these new plans would impact:
Yesterday in North Carolina, I stopped by Eric’s house to have lunch with him and his two sons. I brought some Cook Out. They were an impressive family—Eric’s an award-winning educator and his sons are both athletic and academic all stars. We talked about the importance of family, building intergenerational wealth, the state of our schools, and I gave his oldest son Christian a couple of tips on what he should get for his first car.
Eric had a lot of student debt forgiven, and he told me what a big deal it was for him and his boys. I go to work for families like Eric’s every day—hardworking folks who want to leave something behind for their kids. I loved the time I spent with them.
Thanks Eric, for hosting me. Come by our place next time.
