@Schornack The seasoned, well underwritten loans are great. However, I'd prefer the bond portfolio be pretty short so we can deploy that liquidity as we see fit.
@Schornack Bond brokers been pushing for a year to prepare for lower rates. Glad we kept plenty of dry powder. Never place directional bets on interest rates.
@MaxROIFarmer@blake_vince@FLOLOfarms@GreenCoverSeed IMO at current interest rates, the cost of capital on a separate machine is more expensive than the additional planter maintenance. I pull the seed firmers out when we do cover crop. We also have a 12/24, so we can swing the tongue 7.5 inches and run between the rows of stalks
@MaxROIFarmer@blake_vince@FLOLOfarms@GreenCoverSeed Our best results come from a kinze planter in 15" rows with wheat plates. We plant rye that way after harvest each fall. Behind our bean stubble, we spread wheat with some dry fert, then incorporate with Krause excelerator vt. The depth and pitch of vt pass varies w/conditions
@FoulkShay Have you seen any data in regards to how often a farm comes up for sale, especially on farms owned and operated vs farms owned and rented out?
@scottreister@KCCINews Thanks for doing a great job on this story Scott. It was hard not to be emotional watching it tonight for many families that have had 4 generations enter the doors of that building.
@MarkNel1026 The real corruption was in flocks where they had less than 5 confirmed cases, killed the thousands of birds. Collected government checks for the birds and future income. Had no feed or labor expense. Then just let facility set empty and live off the big check
@MarkNel1026 There was a ton of corruption in that government program. However, at this point, unless already ordered, there are 0 available pullets to purchase in the US until 2027. The breeder flocks have been hit too. A facility that has a younger flock get the flu can't replace the birds
@MarkNel1026 The commodity groups remind me of the federal government. They constantly grow and spend more money without providing much additional value. I don't think the individuals working for these organizations are bad people, but they want to remain employed and make more money.
@PlsntVlyFarmer Woah! They aren't a bank, they're basically a bloated government agency with nearly zero oversight. Don't lump good rural, community banks in with them.
