The translators were not idiots, it says in the Greek exactly what it says in the (eg) ESV. When if they made a mistake, removing punctuation doesn’t create some random concept of quoting. Take the punctuation away and show that it does.

The “did the Word of God originate with you” was a rebuke to people who were trying to twist God’s instructions to suit their sensibilities. You should think long and hard about that.

1 Cor 11 is not instruction for church context, no serious theologian in church history that I’m aware of has made any link between those two sections in that way.

Where do you get him quoting something he is debunking? I’ve read the whole of 1 Cor at least 50 times by now in life, Paul is giving instruction on orderly worship (again). There is no quotation, and it sits in the context of all the other things he is describing about how order should be kept in church. Where does he “tell women to prophesy”, and if he does, what has that got to do with women teaching? (Which is what he is constantly primarily dealing with in terms of women in church)

Paul is smart enough to articulate what he meant. He also said it in multiple contexts (1 Cor 14). Also the unrelated verses you reference have nothing to do with women teaching in a church setting. In our modern, feminized culture it makes me as uncomfortable as you but also the Church is in an utter mess and lack of faithfulness to scripture likely a huge part of that.

generous, more likely to donate to the actual poor (not fake govt “charities”), vast majority of soup kitchens, homeless care etc run by churches etc. Also Jesus’ goal was for YOU to love your neighbor, not defer to the government.

Ok your original post had a good point but this is post modern nonsense. Of course sins are ranked, go to the punishments prescribed in the OT to get an idea. Being “proud” or “smoking” are not equal with gross sexual sin.

We do need the blood of Jesus to receive forgiveness for all of them, but don’t go down this silly worldly path of equalizing all sins. They all have vastly different earthly consequences.
