Dishwashers are surprisingly simple installations: connect power, water, and drain; slide into cabinet; and secure.

By my (current) count, this should take no more than five trips to the hardware store. Six tops.

The good news is that, when the water shutoff valve handle snapped off, the water was off. So if the new dishwasher arrives before the plumber, I can still replace the broken one without flooding the kitchen.
