SATURDAY AM: For a film’s second weekend to gross over $100M, that’s quite a gift, not just for a studio, but the greater exhibition industry. Spider: Man: Brand New Day, with an eye on $143M this weekend is the eighth title to pull this off, and it’s the fifth to do so after Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther and The Avengers. Even if it doesn’t topple Force Awakens record $149.2M sophomore frame, the Destin Daniel Cretton directed movie is in rare air, and the first for a Sony movie to clear $100M in a second weekend. Of course, the previous second weekend high for Sony belonged to 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s $84.5M

It is now the 5th highest-grossing #MCU film.

But this shit... Yeah that's Spider-Man

Will be among the top 3 biggest second box office weekends OF ALL TIME.
Honestly, this is actually one of the better-written parts of the movie if you really pay attention. His Spider-Sense only comes back because he stopped suppressing his powers, so if he had kept the inhibitor on, he wouldn’t have sensed the shot at all and Jean would’ve been the one hit instead.
That moment isn’t just about him accepting himself, it’s literally what saves her life. I feel like people miss things like this because they’re focused on big twists, but this is really solid writing hiding in plain sight.
