And yes, You have to let it all play out now because of ABS. Called balls and strikes are no longer final. But a quick review shows he had to alter his path because of a blocked path.

Both the fielder and the runner must continue. after the play, it’s clear that the walk happened and the base is his without interference of any kind.

Now if he pops up and moves toward third. Obviously fair game.

Good luck digging your cleat into home plate when sliding.

@JohnnyBGoodeDFF @PBglimbeck @MichaelVitaleJr @SNYtv It quite clearly forced the runner to change his path before arriving, so, while the players were misinformed in the moment, which is fine, after the play we now have a form of interference where the runner wasn’t allowed to take his base without liability or obstruction.

Taking into account that the fielder SHOULD make a play there, yes, (because abs) but after the play, the tag should be considered an obstruction to the runners now entitled base.

@_TheBBQBarn Correct. However, the tag SHOULD happen because of the abs system, players should assume pitches are strikes, but once the play ends, because a walk did happen mid play, the tag attempt becomes an obstruction to the runners entitled bag. It forced the runner to change his path.
