Today, we remember the 307 French and American Marines, Sailors and Soldiers who died on this day in 1983 when terrorists attacked the Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, and recall those who worked tirelessly in the days following the attack.

Today marks the 39th anniversary of the Beirut bombing that killed 241 service members. For the Corps, it was the bloodiest day since the Battle of Iwo Jima in WWII.

Today we remember and honor the life of Cpl. Jason Dunham, a #Marine who stood in the way of certain death to save the lives of his fellow Marines.

Cpl. Dunham served as an infantry rifle squad leader during some of the bloodiest battles in Iraq.
